Help us make the Firewalla Gold 10Gbit Unit

Thank you – our Gold Pro (https://firewalla.com/products/firewalla-gold-pro) pre-sale is off to a great start! Firewalla's been working to make your network secure & fast and help you tame kids since 2017. Here's a quick reflection on our history (red/blue, purple, gold, and the pro). Looking forward to supporting even more powerful networks with the 10 Gbit Gold Pro!

This is also my 4th Firewalla (and I ordered earlier today). The Pro is higher performing than my GOLD but essentially the same. I look forward to seeing how the Firewalla team optimizes it and makes use of its increased performance. Thank you to the team and everyone for helping them bring the best product they could to market! Maybe they will also make an “Ultra” to address many who wanted SFP capabilities if there are enough people who want it? I’m happy with how it is, but maybe an SFP/SFP+ wait list to see if there is enough demand?

The team needs a bit of time to digest the new hardware; for sure, there will be limits increased and maybe even possible features that weren't possible with cooler CPUs. (developers love faster CPUs and there is never enough memory) We have been using the Gold Pro at our office, and the app reaction time is blazing fast :)
Here are at least a couple of things we can increase
- site-to-site VPN limit to 20
- WireGuard client limit to 50 (200 beta/early access)
And likely more, as we get more dev units and get the rest of the team on it.

This is my first Firewall product.
About a year ago I mentioned them that if they produce a 10G version I am going to buy it. I did.
I have CAT 7 cabling. Two lines. I am also preparing for WiFi 7, possibly mesh, certainky quad-band. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is okay. Samsung may have a triple-fold model. I still need ZigBee for security system and old & slow WiFi for home appliances. The faster 5Ghz for most, and 6Ghz for quick access & transfer.
I have something else besides the Gold Pro, but it will be the gate-keeper. Thank you for giving me better, safer years from 2025 onwards. -
I still think that I would rather pay a bit more for a double fast CPU with liquid cooling.
Would you kindly make the Gold Pro Turbo/Plus/II/Max/Ultra an option.
The VPN Client speed should be doubled or quadrupled.
The same board, super-CPU with closed liquid cooling.
Perhaps the power amplifiers need to be stronger with better cooling.

We can't disclose sales details, but it is within our expectations and very close to the Gold Plus launch we did in Aug 2022. Our pre-sales will generally run forever; the pricing of the units will move up once we hit our milestones or parts prices start to go up.
I will keep everyone here updated on our progress, and hopefully, we all can enjoy the process of putting a product together.

@Firewalla - can you now disclose what CPU model/ number is being used? OR not yet? Would be nice to get an idea of performance boost compared to Gold+. I pre-ordered Gold pro not because I need 10Gb - but because I feel Gold+ is underpowered. I am sure there are many people like me - looking for a HW upgrade to Gold+.
-
@Firewalla: I found your comparison on the Gold pro product page - CPU is listed as Intel 12th gen. So this is "Alder Lake" and is the first CPU (Intel) architecture to feature P-cores and E-cores. You listed it as 4 cores, but is that P-cores or E-cores? Anyway, its OK I'll wait for the beta to get the details. Not looking at any specific benchmarks, just general performance. If gold+ was 9th gen - then this should be a decent performance boost - - hopefully you have DDR5 memory and at least PCIE gen4 support.

I couldn't resist and bought one Firewalla Gold Pro 10G too. By the way I have a big request to the software engineers, please make easy to setup VLANs for people who don’t know how to configure them manually, I mean using only one 10 GB slot from each side. Since I plan to connect that 10 GB LAN port using it for at least 3 Virtual LANs, Thanks much !

@Andre have you checked out this article
https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046231493-Firewalla-Tutorial-Network-Segmentation-Example-with-VLANI found it really helpful

@mikehuxley
Maybe I don’t understand something, but I didn’t find what I’m looking for there, for example, I want to use LAN port 1 for 3 separate VLANs, and I want devices in these VLANs not to be able to see devices in neighboring VLANs, and at the same time, to have different rules for accessing the Internet, I hope I explained clearly and didn't confuse you :)
-
@mikehuxley This may better help you understand how VLANs and network segmentation are set up. https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408644783123-Network-Segmentation#h_01FJ0EMPZVJDQF3CVFR492YN01
To do what you are wanting, you will need to have a managed switch connected to the Firewalla and then you would configure each one of the managed switch's ports for a specific VLAN.
