- If you're having access issues, but have too many rules and are unsure which one is causing the issue, you can reset all Rules and Firewalla Features. From your box main screen, tap Box Settings > Advanced > Reset > Reset Policy Rules. There is no "undo" for this action.
Before Reset
REMINDER: After resetting or flashing a new image, you will need to pair it with your unit again (https://firewalla.com/install). Your old Firewalla icon will not work. Do not remove the old icon until you have restored the settings.
If you'd like to restore the previous data after the reset, the recommended sequence is:
- Do not unpair the existing Firewalla Box. This is your backup.
-
Reset the Firewalla Box. You can reset the box in a few different ways:
- Reset via App (Recommended)
- Manal Reset via Reset Button (if you cannot reset via the App)
- Flash Installer Image (Advanced, if you cannot reset via App or Reset Button)
- Restore the Configurations after the box has been reset.
Reset Via App
If you can access your box from the Firewalla App:
- From your box's main screen, tap Box Settings > Advanced > Reset > Reset to Factory Defaults.
If you cannot access the box with the Firewalla App, follow the steps below. This works even if the box isn't paired.
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the Firewalla box. Connect the other end to your router or a switch.
- From your Firewalla home screen > tap App Settings (...) in the top right > Hardware Troubleshooting
- Wait for your Firewalla box to be discovered > tap the Firewalla box > scan QR code > Reset to Factory Defaults
- If the box can't be discovered, power cycle and try again.
After it's rebooted, see Configuration Restoration to restore the previous settings.

Can you define what is meant by "reset" here? Specifically I'm wondering about - are the rules all removed from the box, and have to be re-created by the admin? Or do the rules remain in place?
Thanks.
"reset" = Factory reset. Making your firewalla like new.
After the reset, you will need to pair with it again, and there will be an option to have you restore from the previous configuration. see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015356093-How-to-migrate-data-from-one-Firewalla-Box-to-another-
I have the original Blue (without reset button/lights). I can no longer find it on the network. How can I factory reset it?
