My local ISP is now offering 3.0Gbps, with 5Gbps available in the near future, I don't see how a 2.5Gbps speed is the future?
It's almost behind the times now, no?
And this is just home fiber internet, can only imagine the bottleneck it could cause in a business network?
No future plans to make a 1/2.5/5/10Gbps security appliance?

So much for being in the silicon valley, the fastest internet we get is Comcast, with that magical 1.2gbit down https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/d21c9a78-f5a1-4ccb-a2b1-c12fcbe8fb69 (this is the our gold test board)
It may be a while before we will get to > 2.5gbit; speed beyond this is extremely rate, and the CPU needed for this is much $$$ and hot ...

We just released Ubuntu 22 based Gold / Gold Plus image, you can find it here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048626153-Firewalla-Gold-Tutorial-How-to-Flash-Installer-Image
If you are comfortable with what you have, there is no need to update to this image. This image is for users who need services provided by ubuntu 22.
This image will work for all Gold units and the upcoming Gold Plus.
And with this, we are a step closer to production :)

Re: Silicon valley
I was also hoping for 10Gpbs... Sonic fiber is rolling out in San Mateo, a bit further North than San Jose but is offering 10Gbps down and up.
And AT&T is upgrading to 5Gbps
So it is a little bit disappointing I was interested in getting a Firewalla instead of relying on the Asus router's TrendMicro thing...

Here is the unboxing of a real firewalla gold plus unit. It is a full build for checking before mass production. The unit is sealed at the factory and we pretend to be you :) https://youtu.be/53QYm4cNQNw

For those considering future-proofing:
If you are in the US and using Comcast/Xfinity, they've started rollouts on docsis 4.0 infrastructures, so the current top tier at 1.2gbps D / 35mbps U are getting replaced by 1.2gbps D / 200mbps U and a new tier at 2gbps D / 200mbps U. They've indicated to have that rolled out to most areas by 2024 and seem to be hard lining a symmetrical speed delivery (2gbps D / 2gbps U) on services on the same time frame.
I'm too rusty to comment on my European counterparts but I'm sure docsis 4.0 will be rather transformative on that front as well, if only for the knock-on effect of fiber customers for potentially more competitive pricing/speeds.

Good news, the first batch of the Firewalla Gold Plus entered production! We are at the moment, pretty confident shipping for USA customers will happen in late November or early December. International orders, likely be a bit earlier if we decide to ship them out from HK.
After production, they will go on a long (20 to 30-day) boat ride to Los Angeles / California.
