The Gold Version B and Gold Plus upper bound operating temperature updated to 113F (45C). Both units should be able to handle another 5C, but that may make the case temperature >60C

My local ISP is now offering 3.0Gbps, with 5Gbps available in the near future, I don't see how a 2.5Gbps speed is the future?

It's almost behind the times now, no?

And this is just home fiber internet, can only imagine the bottleneck it could cause in a business network?

No future plans to make a 1/2.5/5/10Gbps security appliance?

    Who is your ISP?

i can’t see how to have a 10GB consumer product at consumer prices.

Yet another reason (that isn’t political) to move north.

So much for being in the silicon valley, the fastest internet we get is Comcast, with that magical 1.2gbit down https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/d21c9a78-f5a1-4ccb-a2b1-c12fcbe8fb69 (this is the our gold test board)

It may be a while before we will get to > 2.5gbit; speed beyond this is extremely rate, and the CPU needed for this is much $$$ and hot ...

Comcast is Colorado is providing 1.333 consistently and there are promo's starting to float around for a 2Gb service.

We just released Ubuntu 22 based Gold / Gold Plus image, you can find it here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048626153-Firewalla-Gold-Tutorial-How-to-Flash-Installer-Image

If you are comfortable with what you have, there is no need to update to this image. This image is for users who need services provided by ubuntu 22.

This image will work for all Gold units and the upcoming Gold Plus.

And with this, we are a step closer to production :)

    Re:  Silicon valley

I was also hoping for 10Gpbs... Sonic fiber is rolling out in San Mateo, a bit further North than San Jose but is offering 10Gbps down and up.

And AT&T is upgrading to 5Gbps

So it is a little bit disappointing I was interested in getting a Firewalla instead of relying on the Asus router's TrendMicro thing...

9/27, we are testing the final production sample (not the sample board). Once we sign off on this, the Gold Plus will go into mass production mode. Shipping before Christmas is possible at the moment.

This is a quick photo of the board.

Here is the unboxing of a real firewalla gold plus unit. It is a full build for checking before mass production. The unit is sealed at the factory and we pretend to be you :) https://youtu.be/53QYm4cNQNw

I read that units will be shipped in december for US customers (if everything goes well). What about other countries?

@Radagast82, depending on the "other country", we may ship some units directly from HK, which means, 'other countries will get the unit slightly faster.

@Topher, we are trying our best to get them early for sure. With daily sync ups with our manufacturing facility and promises to them we will be ordering more after :)

    For those considering future-proofing:

If you are in the US and using Comcast/Xfinity, they've started rollouts on docsis 4.0 infrastructures, so the current top tier at 1.2gbps D / 35mbps U are getting replaced by 1.2gbps D / 200mbps U and a new tier at 2gbps D / 200mbps U.  They've indicated to have that rolled out to most areas by 2024 and seem to be hard lining a symmetrical speed delivery (2gbps D / 2gbps U) on services on the same time frame.

I'm too rusty to comment on my European counterparts but I'm sure docsis 4.0 will be rather transformative on that front as well, if only for the knock-on effect of fiber customers for potentially more competitive pricing/speeds.

Already have a mount ready for it installed in server rack right next to my Firewalla Gold unit. I hope I can get them working in tandem behind my BGW320 to totally saturate my fiber 2.5G ISP connection.

Good news, the first batch of the Firewalla Gold Plus entered production! We are at the moment, pretty confident shipping for USA customers will happen in late November or early December. International orders, likely be a bit earlier if we decide to ship them out from HK.

After production, they will go on a long (20 to 30-day) boat ride to Los Angeles / California.

Hey @FW, what is the point of supporting multi WAN where the Data Usage meter and Internet Quality (tests) are not WAN specific?

How do we know what WAN is having issues when the auto ping fails, it is random?

Is anyone interested in playing with the Gold Plus earlier? I just realized, we can ship some of the units via air and have an early access program. (likely just a very small number of people)

I'm absolutely up for an early preview, got some time to dedicate integrating into my home network and playing with some features.  I live on the east coast of the US.

E-mail me if you're interested - jazzed about production either way.

I would appreciate the opportunity to receive my unit early. That might give me time to order another unit as a Christmas gift for family.
