SIM Slot?
This board does not have cell support. The SIM slot is just left over on the prototype board. It will likely get removed when manufacturing.

Looking forward to receipt of a FWG+. I will be upgrading from a FW Purple that is currently version 1.9742. In several messages there is reference to upgrading from 1.975 which is in beta. Is Firewalla going to release 1.975 before U.S. customers receive their FWG+ or should we all enroll in the beta program to get the update?

@Firewalla - Yes, to get the "better experience" we should run box 1.975 and app 1.52. These are currently in early access/beta. Does Firewalla plan to release these as stable in time for us to migrate to FWG+ (U.S. shipment upcoming in December) or do we need to join the app/box beta programs?

@Firewalla, thanks - I appreciate the effort it takes to release stable updates. I'm trying to plan ahead for my FWG+ installation. If it's likely that the beta is needed then I will plan to switch over. But if Firewalla is likely to release the "better experience" versions in time then I will wait.

Here is the latest updated
- Our partner warehouse will pick up the Gold Plus units from the boat this Wed or Thursday
- Very likely, we will start to send out the units starting early next week. (hopefully Monday).
- We will try our best to ship FIFO, there is a chance it may not work, so please be patient
- It may take a few days to get them all out. (we have lots of orders)
- We should have enough units for everyone. (including new orders from BFCM sales)

Update
- Our warehouse received the first batch from the boat, and should be shippable soon. (No exact date, but will happen this week)
- For some magical reason, they left some units and will get it to the warehouse this week also.
- We are not sure if we can put 1.52 app into production, if you are upgrading from gold or purple, we advice you to install the 1.52 beta app to get better migration support. @Firewalla - thanks! It was easy to opt-in to the app beta and switch over to app 1.52 beta. The release notes has section "6. Box Restoration and Migration" that suggests a "better experience" using box 1.975. I am migrating from a Purple running box 1.9742. I opted-in to the box beta but found that the Purple box upgrade is still "early access". Should we join the Purple "early access"? Will the Purple box version matter since we are not migrating from "the same model"? Is a Purple to Gold+ migration just using the app to copy a subset of settings? What should Purple users do/expect?

You don't have to opt-in 1.975 unless you want to migrate OpenVPN client configuration. (in this case, both old box and new box need to be opt-in 1.975 before migration)
Yes. Purple 1.975 is still in early access.
Since Purple to Gold+ is a cross model migration, it can't use quick setup to setup the network configuration automatically, so you will have to use the default network setup when setting up, and make change later in "Network" UI. Then use Settings -> Advanced -> Migration to migrate the remaining rules/alarm settings/features/....

A quick update on Gold Plus shipping and more:
- Firewalla Gold Pluses will be sent out today or tomorrow in batches.
- We do not know how big the batches are.
- We can’t guarantee a strict FIFO order, so some new orders may go out with the early orders.
- If you are updating/upgrading from Gold/Purple, make sure your app is fully up to date, as we’re likely to release app 1.52 in production mode (without box 1.975) soon.

Update:
- Most of the units should be out today (12/8/2022)
- There may be a few (not sure how many yet) that need to be sent out 12/9/2022)
- Tracking numbers and tracking number email should be sent out latest 12/12/2022 (Monday)
- Canada orders are in a different queue; the tracking number for these may need 24 to 48 hours to generate.

I'm a brand new customer- having preordered the firewalla gold plus. Is there a way to find out what batch we would expect to be in? I haven't had any communication regarding shipment yet and my status for the purchase shows "unfulfilled."
Excited to try it. Got frustrated with Untangle and am looking forward to trying a company that is more responsive to its users requests.

Got mine today as well. They sent it to my old address even after I had notified them of address change a month or two ago. Anyway after a trip across town, trespassing onto old property and sure enough there it sat on the porch. Once I did get it home it migrated no problem within a few minutes and up and running.

Yes shipping slip actually had my old address on it. I'm just happy a neighbor didn't pick it up or some joe because we left that area because of unruly teens in the area stealing, among other things. I'm happy I got it and I can post real results on an at&t 2G fiber line. I'm averaging 1.5G to 2G up and down speeds. My modem is set for 5 static addresses and 1 private address. I use the built in wifi in the modem for such things as chrome, gaming devices and fire TV. Then I have firewalla gold for 2 of the private addresses and firewalla gold+ for 3 private addresses. Being there are so many different networks involved I'm pretty happy with the speeds and yes it fluctuates a bit depending on the other network usage however that is to be expected. I think over all I have seen peaks over 2.4G service speed so I'm getting more then what my subscriber has allocated. Hope it stays that way 🙂
