Manage your LANs and WANs with Firewalla!
Firewalla's Network Manager makes it easy to view, manage, and create LANs and WANs.
- See everything about your LANs and VLANs in one place
- Easily add new WAN connections for Internet backup and extra availability
- Fine-tune each of your networks to meet your needs
- Configure port forwardings, 1:1 NAT rules, and NAT passthrough
The Network Manager is a Firewalla Gold and Purple-only feature. If you're in Simple or DHCP Mode, you can use it to create network segments. If you're in Router Mode, you can use it to configure your WAN(s) as well.
Viewing your Networks
Navigate to the Network Manager by tapping the Network icon on your box's main page. It shows all your existing networks, their IP ranges, VLAN IDs, and which Ethernet ports they are using.
Managing LANs and WANs
If you tap on a LAN or a WAN, you'll go to its detail page. From here, you can see all kinds of information about it, including its name, connection type, the interface it's using, IP address, DNS Server(s), and IPv6 settings.
Tap Edit to make any changes. You can change your network's name, type, interface, IP address, search domain, and IPv6 and DHCPv6 settings. Don't forget to Save when you're done.
WANs have a few more potential configurations, including IGMP Proxy and the Connectivity Test. The Connectivity Test allows Firewalla to monitor the Internet connectivity of your WANs and notify you if anything abnormal happens.
NAT Settings and Link Aggregation
To provide better control of NAT functionality in Firewalla, all NAT functions are consolidated under Network -> NAT Settings.
- Source NAT
- Source Networks
- Source NAT Rules
- NAT Passthrough
- Port Forwarding (including UPnP)
- DMZ
If your ISP has given you several IP addresses, you can assign a particular outgoing WAN IP address to a specific device by adding a Source NAT/1:1 NAT Rule.
NAT Passthrough helps connections using different protocols get through the router (mostly VPN protocols). If you have a VPN set up on your device and are having trouble getting it to work, you may need to enable one of these options, depending on the VPN protocol. Please keep these options off if you don't need passthrough.
On-Demand Network Diagnostics
If you're running into issues with your Internet connection, you can manually run network diagnostics to see if your WANs are the problem. This means you can diagnose your connection anytime, even if Firewalla hasn't reported any errors. To do this, tap Run Network Diagnostics at the bottom of the Network Manager page.
