Key Principles of Zero Trust
- Segmentation and Microsegmentation: Divide your network into smaller segments to limit the lateral movement of threats.
- Least Privilege Access: Grant users and devices only the minimum access necessary to perform their functions on the network.
- Continuous Monitoring: Continuously monitor and verify the security posture of all users and devices.
We usually run a pre-sale cycle, but due to the political changes (new President), it is not possible for us to pre-sale and build units without knowing possible tariff impacts. Instead, we’ve used the sale proceeds from BFCM to pre-purchase a batch of units.
The AP7 units should be built soon and be available for ordering. We plan to split the orders into groups: (This plan is still tentative, we may also merge beta+early access together)
- Early Access (for our earliest supporters at the lowest price, available mid- to late-December 2024. Must be running Firewalla Gold (v1 & v2), Gold SE, Gold Plus or Gold Pro in router mode)
- Beta Access (about 1 month later, available mid-January 2025. Must be running Firewalla Purple or Gold series units in router mode)
- Production (to be decided after 1/20/2025)

All units will have the final production hardware, software will be in early access/beta.

The Firewalla AP7 Ceiling Mount will come a couple of months after 1/20/2025. It will seamlessly integrate with the FWAP7 Desktop units.

Status Update: 12/10/2024
- The initial batch of APs is nearly complete.
- We plan to ship some units by air right around or after Christmas to reduce shipping costs.
- Shipping optimization is under consideration to keep the beta/early access pricing closer to $299.
- Apps version 1.64 and 1.980 are targeted for "early access" release during the week of 12/16. These updates will include exciting new features and code support for the Firewalla AP.
- Sales are expected to begin in early January, with units shipping within seven days of order placement. (The exact date will be confirmed next week.)

"The real problem is that the demand for the AP7 outside of the USA is not yet big enough to meet our ODM's minimum build requirements."
The real problem for us outside the U.S. is that there's still no Warehouse in Europe and besides long shipping times we need to pay expensive shipping costs, local TAX and importing fees on top your products wich was in my case ~150€ (!) on top of a Gold SE. [50€ shipping and 100€ tax and import fees]
Hen egg problem, not enough demand no Warehouse, no Warehouse no demand.
I guess it's Firewalla who needs to jump into the cold water and do the Warehouse first, demand will follow.Keep up the good work and people will buy - but you need to do a step towards us!

@TwWe, We have been exploring EU warehousing for a while now. Including using amazon, local partners, and our own presence. The simplest is using local partners, and after factoring in taxes, operational costs, and markups, the final unit price paid by a typical EU customer (including UK), is pretty much what you are paying when we are shipping from HK. And some larger partners want exclusive deals, which means you are going to pay a few more percent more.
Meaning that if you worry about cost, it will not go down (likely up). If you want a bit faster shipping, maybe.
We can always have a presence in EU somewhere, something worth exploring in 2025 and 2026

However, I am not concerned about costs, I am more concerned about the overall complexity.
My Gold SE took 9 days to arrive, 4 days of that lost in customs handling.
Not even speaking in case I need to RMA something or need a quick replacement.
The devices are too expensive to have a spare in the shelf and in case I need a quick replacement, game over.Product quality, software, customer service, everything top notch!
Prices also top notch but worth it IMHO.
The overall purchasing experience and possible RMA issues are killing the demand you're hoping for.There's 450 mio. people living in the EU (vs. 340 mio. in the U.S.) and if you want to explore this market, you need to do overseas shipping and customs bureaucracy and don't let me wait and calculate my own customs costs which are totally unclear during ordering process.
In the past you had one product (firewalls), now adding product two (APs) and possibly product 3 (switches) and who knows what the future will bring - but exploring warehousing options in the EU and making the ordering process the same WOOHAA experience as the products themselves - this is the way to go :-)

- We will send out the discount / half-beta coupon on April 8 or April 9.
- The discount is not yet finalized, but it will be approximately $8 to $10 per unit.
- The sale will start 4/15, 9 AM (US/Pacific Time).
- There is a 30% chance we may airlift some units and have them ship on 4/16 (a very limited number).
- The overall quantity we made is somewhat based on the survey results.
- Shipping should be in FIFO order and is expected to be completed within 30 days after the sale.

firewalla Glad to see this. Eagerly awaiting this being made available for sale. I completed that survey months ago so assume that submission still applies.
Looking at the UK government website, it seems that UK(NI) means that it can be made available across all of the UK. Could you please confirm that you have the same understanding?

At the moment, the EU/UK AP7 Desktop version will likely be on sale July 15th or July 22nd. And should ship within 30 days. (At the moment we are 80% sure it will be this date).
