What Daniel said:
offset
Offset sounds good
One may buy a new/used cabined in the future (like Nov. 2024).
Plan B, but also a ventilated bottom on the other side so that the power brick can be either side.
Oh, and Ethernet holes also on the other side, too!
Yet again a cardboard covers for those who do not need the ethernet holes on the right or left.
Symmetric BB option with offset

Update: (May 6th)
- The PCB (board) was submitted to the factory and waiting for production.
- The sourcing of materials for full production already started.
- The team is now working on the packaging and little things like the dust cover.
Our beta schedule is still good.
Here is one of the designs of the outside box.

And experimenting with the inner seal.

And, of course, dust covers are always important

Looks great, a big well done to you all at firewalla. I'm excited to receive and use it. I appreciate you all have put a lot of time and a tonne of effort to get this far, I really appreciate it.
One question. Does the fan spin constantly or does it kick in when thermals demand it?

@firewalla
I do get your point regarding the Gold SE box, it was nice fitting more than the 'cute' factor. However yeah the power supply was small as you say. I'm guessing there is no one producing a kettle lead with slide on plug ends so you could easily then supply US and EU plugs in the same packaging? I appreciate most slip on plug ends are on the power adapter themselves rather than the lead?

On the rack ears, I'd say option A as $10 is pretty cheap for after market ears. The only change I might make is a couple of holes for zip ties to mount the power brick. Note that I thought I'd find inexpensive 3rd party rack ears on amazon, but no luck.
Additionally within a couple of months someone on Etsy will be selling a few 3d printed variants of option B so people can get what they want.

We just sent out the Firewalla Gold Pro survey + early access email to those who purchased the unit. (if you don't see one, please check your SPAM folder)
At this moment, we are fairly confident the early access (beta) will happen between 6/25 to 7/25. The final shipment should be in November. Included in the survey is also the "rack mount" voting. We will also take this to the public for a secondary opinion. (the final style selection will be weighted 70% from people who purchased the unit, and 30% from others)

@Ram!
Did you unsubscribe from the firewalla weekly news? if you have, can you subscribe https://firewalla.com/weekly again? (otherwise, we can't send email to you). After you subscribe, likely in two days the system will resend the email to you.

FYI, the "buyers" early access survey, version B of the rackmount is winning by a very large margin. We also did a reddit and Facebook poll for none buyers, B is also winning. We will wait one more day for the survey to trickle down. So at the moment, consider B is the final rack mount
Since nearly 50% of you surveyed don't need a rack mount, we may need to adjust the pricing up by 2 to 3 dollars. (from what's quoted in the survey)
