    Based on the rack mount decision and all of the other decisions (which feels like they were already made before this entire thread was stated), it appears home/hobby is the target here. That is unfortunate, especially for 10gbe.

    I’ll continue to wait and see what transpires in this space. Seems like there is a gap to be filled for business here. Who knows, maybe a rev2/plus/etc. will fill the gap in the future.

    Our target audiences are homes and small businesses ... We don't target enterprise (unless it is work from home) or service provider. (may be a bit commercial, since we have many like our simplicity and cost)

    For your information, with optimization, PPPoE on the Gold Pro can now do 7Gbit down and 5Gbit up. This code is portable, so it is likely to see a small boost on other platforms as well. This change should be in the early access unit.

    Amazing, you’re able now to push PPPoe on all cores ?

    It is all software black magic! The Gold Pro project also gave the 'optimization' some inspirations and push.

    Well done team. This is why you are the only real players in the home / soho / small business sector imo

    This "fix" is still under testing; I know the gold se team is planning to get it out first, we will see. But, for sure, the June/July early access version will include this.

    @firewalla

    When will we know who has been selected for early access for the Gold Pro?

    @mikehuxley, when we finalize the number of units getting built. (these units are nice, but expensive, and we want to build more of them, but the constraint is the amount of extra $ for each unit)

    I think I am going to run in the VPN client mode. 500-600 Mb

    Ours stressing Gold Pro, almost 40 days uptime. I need to reboot this to move the power cords :(

    FYI, the Gold Pro will have these limits increased; likely more to follow as we go through beta.

    • WireGuard client limit:
      • 25 Prod -> 50 Prod
      • 100 EA/Beta/MSP -> 200 EA/Beta/MSP
    • Change Site to Site limit from 10 connections to 20 connections.
    • Change the max # of IPs per WAN to 1 + 10 additional IPs
    • Change the max # of active VPN clients to 10
    • Change the max # of VPN client connections to 20

    Quick Update
    1. We started the mounting tray (version B)
    2. We are hoping (aggressively) to have Gold Pro beta units ready in the first week of July.
    3. The Gold Pro survey will remain open until the beta is shipping.

    The official Gold Pro beta image (candidate 1), as measured locally (PPPoE local server), can do 7.5gbit download, 5.5gbit upload. PPPoE only. Once we have the official image fully tested, we will change the official numbers to these

    When will we know the early access selection for the Gold Pro? It has been few weeks since I replied.

    The beta selection process is pending the final number of beta units manufactured. And that is stuck at the cost stage; (the most expensive part is the metal case, which is done manually). Our management is doing their best to get as many units possible out, and that part will require some more negotiation.

    We are targeting in a week to do the selection. And aggressively have the unit out early July.

    A bit better news on the PPPoE side. Engineering optimized the Gold Pro even more to get it close to 9 Gbit PPPoE download speed. We are hoping to get this code in the beta image :)

    • The PPPoE tests are done via local servers
    • (Please ignore the server name below, they are fake)

    The PPPoe optimizations will include the upload in the future for symmetrical packages?
    Thank you Firewalla’s engineers on the effort!

    We aim to get what we have now for PPPoE optimization out as soon as possible. Because the number of PPPoE users with very fast (>1Gbit) internet is very limited, it will take some time for us to mature the code. Otherwise will never be able to release.

    I will make sure you are on the list @Ram!, finding people with PPPoE speed to 10Gbit is impossible ... (well beyond 1Gbit is hard ...)

    Sorry to be a broken record but hopefully you will roll out this optimization for the entire gold platform and not just for pro as the plain gold won't even do 1 gigabit over pppoe maxing out at ~750 Mbits.

    @Jao, did you turn off Smart Queue? I believe the Gold units are fairly close to gigabit.
