Help us make the Firewalla Gold 10Gbit Unit

Nobody wants looks to take priority over functionality, but there does seem to be a lot of suggestions ignored in this thread.
No reason a company can’t make something look good as well as perform.
I’m gonna wait until a “rev b” (or whatever) is made that addresses concerns throughout this thread.
I still believe this thread, advertised as “help us design the 10g, was created after the specs were locked in. Too many people asked for things that were immediately dismissed.
Regarding the color. I hate it too. In a rack full of black/dark components, that white box would really stand out. Not in a good way. The whole look speaks “toy” and not “professional.”
My standard ending remains… I love my Firewallas, so please take my comments constructively.

Just like Kickstarter, they were validating interest, design, and getting pre-orders so they don't need to go raise capital from investors to make the product. They did take input, reply back, and went from 4GB to 8GB RAM which I'm happy with. They are making a product that needs to fit the most needs of the most people to be viable at a certain price point which they were upfront with many times. They are doing a great job in my view.

I don't think subscriptions would go over well or get them many sales. Even ones that do have a sub like Eero the people who bought it hate that, and get very mad when Amazon locks away another feature they had behind the subscription each time they do it. While this product doesnt compete with Eero exactly, its primary competitor is Unifi and that doesnt have a subscription for around the same feature set. Nobody would want to move away from Unifi (like I am) to go to Firewalla if they start having to pay monthly fee for something that had for free already.

I would pay monthly fee if I knew it would keep the company in business. Everyone these days wants ongoing services for free. The only way for this is ads. Is that what you all want? Ads to appear in the Firewalla app??
You all want ad blockers, as you hate ads, yet you don't want to pay a subscription. You realise how silly that sounds right? 🤔 🤣

That is the problem with its cloud-based design. I don’t like Firewalla being hooked into the cloud for two main (and big) reasons:
1. It is an ongoing cost. The profit from the sale of a Firewalla can’t cover the cloud costs forever.
2. I don’t like Firewalla having to connect to the cloud. It is ironic that a firewall cannot be blocked from the internet. This is a big security risk in my eyes.Regardless, I have three Firewalla devices and love their features.
I see subscriptions as being inevitable and I would support that. Even with a subscription, I still think their features beat the competition.

@robert
For a modern firewall / IDS / IPS security device to work, it needs the latest and greatest security intelligence. That intelligence needs to be updated, and at times, some intelligence may stay off your device due to its dynamic / size nature.
Now, if you block the cloud (blocking this intelligence), you will have a nice router and a simple firewall.

I just made a link, if any of you want to contribute to the switch https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/28643907379091-Help-us-make-the-Firewalla-Switch
This is very likely something interesting to look at after the access point. Here is that link https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/27584001015315-Help-us-make-the-Firewalla-AP

Update:
- We are targeting beta in the middle to late July. As usual, this will be the final board and beta software, and I think the casing may be done manually rather than using a mold (you likely can't tell the difference). These units are fairly expensive to build, so quantity is limited.
- Beta signup survey and general rack mount survey will be sent in early May.
- Gold Pro software is getting tuned. We will likely increase the limits on many things with this unit. It may take 1 to 1.5 months to get this ready and release to beta.
FYI, this is the unit we used during the ISC-WEST show
