FAQ:
Will there be a trade-in program?
Unfortunately no, we do not have the capability to create such programs. Pre-sales are usually the best time to update/upgrade an existing system!
Will WiFi SD work with the Gold SE?
YES!
How does the unit compare to Gold?
Other than the port speed differences, the Gold is likely to have a bit higher performance on WireGuard and OpenVPN protocols than Gold SE. (10 to 20% higher).
Gold CPU performance is a bit higher than Gold SE. If you are going to run various docker applications and don’t need 2.5Gbit port speed, Gold is a better choice.
How does this unit compare to the Gold Plus?
The Gold Plus can do LAG and get you close to 5Gbit performance. When using LAG, the Gold SE is limited to 2Gbit. Additionally, the Gold Plus can handle single port traffic between 2.3 and 2.4Gbit, whereas the Gold SE is close to 2.3Gbit download but limited to 2Gbit upload (QoS via FQ_Codel/Cake is also faster on the Gold Plus). If you are running PPPoE protocol on the WAN side, the Gold SE is limited to 700 to 800Mbps compared with Gold Plus at 1.7Gbps.
The port speed of all ports on Gold Plus is 2.5Gbps, while only two ports on Gold SE is 2.5Gbps.
If you are a power user, the Gold Plus is a better choice.
What is the pricing of the Gold SE?
The final price of the Gold SE is TBD at the moment. Like all of our pre-sale and crowdfunding, the sale price will be very good.
Will I be able to migrate settings?

Is this unit fanless?
Yes
Is a mounting plate included?
No. (there will be mounting screw holes on the back of the unit)
I have a red / blue / blue + should I upgrade?
Although these single port units are great for augmenting your network, they are not 'true' routers. If you want more great features like https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404423835795-Creating-a-Better-Network you should upgrade. (pre-sales are always the best time to get the best price)
I have a Purple; should I upgrade?
Besides the 2 Gigabit performance, If you need any of these
- Multiple ports, or a secondary WAN, Port-based segmentation
- More memory for docker containers
- More country blocks, and VLAN (unlimited country blocks and more VLAN with Gold)
I have a Gold; should I upgrade?
The Firewalla Gold is an extremely powerful unit. There is no need to upgrade if you do not need the 2 Gigabit ports (WAN or LAN).

No, the Gold Plus the best you can get

I active all protections with strict options.
I compare firewalla with Adguard DNS.
If you want example, I active the safe search on firewalla nothing change in my google results. I try same thing with Adguard. my results change with strict mode and I can't disable the strict mode. -
Did you wait long enough after you enabled SafeSearch? or flushed DNS on your client before testing? Safe search is a DNS redirect; there is nothing special about its implementation.

Status Update
- Thank you for all participating in the two beta waves!
- We have started the manufacturing process for all the pre-orders and more.
- Firewalla 1.977 (the initial version running on the Gold SE) will be out of beta, likely in the first or second week of October.
- At the moment, we are looking at shipping pre-orders starting 10/15 to 10/31 (please make sure your shipping address is correct)
These units are getting tested before packaging and loading software.

@cyber, likely a day or two after we ship the pre-sale units, we will start selling gold se as a 'normal' product. We will increase the price a bit more, likely just 10 to 20 dollars to reflect the maturity of the product. The price will stay at this level until we start building the next big batch.

New Firewalla user here. I received my "Beta" gold SE a couple of weeks ago. Background on me: Coming from EERO used as WAP and Firewall/router. I was on EERO+ and paid the annual fee. Ended up setting my eero to "Bridge Mode" and using my Firewalla as the primary router/firewall directly connected to the internet. I have about 120 devices on my home network.
Some of my thoughts:
1. This thing is a game changer. The app and device are just sooooo good. I am coming from EERO, and while that application is nice from a UI perspective, it is very limited in terms of actual security capabilities. Literally, anybody with an Apple device in "privacy mode" (dynamically changing the MAC), would bypass all content filtering without a way to combat that. Firewalla literally covers all of the firewall/security functions as requested in the eero support forums that have been there for over 5 years. It was like getting my entire wishlist in one go.
2. From a parental controls perspective, this is about 10X better than EERO with no monthly cost!!!
3. The application has data for days. I get to see so much. It is so very flexible. This system might provide more functionality than most need, but I like how approachable this is and how easy it is to turn things off.
4. Device search by Mac Address or other metadata??? That's crazy talk. Nope, fully functional in Firewalla. Setting up my network was easier than any other system I have used so far (linksys, google wifi, apple airport).
5. I have had 0 problems with this device.
6. My chief concern is that Firewalla will be acquired and the purchasing company will screw this up. :)
Seriously, this is an amazing device and I really appreciate how I finally feel like I have full control over my network. Thank you Firewalla.

Gold SE is now shipping! You should be receiving a tracking number this week! International orders may be towards the end of the week. (please watch out for an email from our support, in case we see address errors or shipping exceptions)
Once we ship all the orders, we will turn on the normal ordering cycle for the Gold SE. The price will likely be $449 for this batch. If you want an extra unit, it is a good time to order now. And if you want any Christmas units, this is also a good time.

Somewhere else [citation needed] the Firewalla folks replied to explain why they hadn't gone for those sorts of high-end features, from memory it was a combination of the fact that it'd drive the cost up enormously at which point they're competing with an entire industry of business-grade products, and that the demand for that sort of thing wasn't high enough to justify the effort involved.
