If you're using OpenDNS to filter web content and have a custom configuration blocking Advertisements, you may find that Firewalla's cloud domain, firewalla.encipher.io, is getting blocked by mistake (misclassified by OpenDNS). Firewalla needs access to this domain to run correctly.
Symptoms of the problem:
- Your phone can't reach Firewalla while on Wi-Fi but it can on LTE
- You can't finish pairing with your Firewalla
Please check your OpenDNS Web Content Filtering settings first. If you have "Advertisements" checked, try deselecting this option to resolve this issue.
To give your Firewalla the necessary access, please whitelist this domain by going into your OpenDNS settings and adding firewalla.encipher.io to your list of "Never Block" domains.
We've submitted feedback to OpenDNS requesting that they reclassify the Firewalla cloud domain, and will update this article if this issue is resolved. In the meantime, please help us by voting "Yes" on these two tag change requests (note that an OpenDNS account is required to vote):
