FAQ:
What is the main difference between this ceiling unit and the desktop unit?
The ceiling unit antenna is optimized in one direction (downwards from the ceiling), while the desktop version has an antenna radiating in all directions. By having the AP mounted on the ceiling, you are going to get less interference and more focused power.
The ceiling unit is also powered by PoE+ via the 10Gbit interface, so you do not need to run another power line.
- Ceiling-mounted APs often avoid furniture and human body absorption, leading to cleaner signal propagation.
- Desktop APs may be affected by desks, walls, and objects, leading to signal obstructions and multipath interference.
- There is no power adapter included in the AP7C
Can I use the ceiling unit on the desktop?
It is fully possible, but we do not recommend it. You may get blind spots behind the unit.
Can I use the ceiling unit on the wall?
Yes, but behind the wall, signals may not be that good.
Can this unit be mounted over a 1 gang power box?
Yes, you have two screw holes that line up just for that. It also works nicely with a 2 gang power box with 4 holes.
Can I use these with WiFi backhaul?
Yes. You can power the unit either with a injector (with no ethernet) or a 12V barrel power cord. You can configure it work with WiFi backhaul from another AP7 ceiling or desktop unit.
Can I use this with the AP7 Desktop?
Yes.
What PoE Injector should I get?
PoE+ Injectors that can perform the speed you want. (2.5Gbit or 10Gbit)
Why is the AP7 Ceiling hot?
Wi-Fi 7 has many radios and it is very hot to operate. The AP7C is compact and the back side is a heatsink. A temperature of about 140F is normal for this unit.

We expect the initial quantity to sell out quickly. However, due to weekend tariff exceptions, we may be able to add more units to this sale or have another batch sale next week (or the week after). Question for the firewalls folks: I am currently using a Trendnet TPE-147GI to provide POE+ to my AP’s. With the new AP7C coming, will this work or do I need to get new injectors that are 10Gb specific?

You will love these. I was combination Router/Wifi Netgear, then Eero thru Gen 3, Netgear Orbi Pro, TP-Link Omada and not Firewalla. Most troublesome was Orbi. Omada is very nice. The Firewalla for myself, consistent, faster than any of my prior choices, lots of control but easy to setup. Most expensive, but well worth the investment. I can't wait to get my ceiling units as well.

Received my AP7C's today, two days earlier than projected and crossed the Easter weekend. Setup was fast and easy, update felt like it took longer than the desktops but maybe 5 mins. Used the 10G port on a PoE+ switch port. Have not tested PoE+ on the 2.5G, can't remember if that is a power port. My garage unit is in a 73F degree environment and AP back is measuring 117F. AP on its side right now until I get it mounted. That may interfere with the possibly more efficient horizontal conductive cooling. Would be nice if the AP's could display temps within the app, assuming that capability exists internally. Reason for garage install is to reach cameras outside the insulated garage car doors. Had temporarily used a AP7D until the AP7C arrived. Although not a proper AP7C install, the 2.4 GHz signal strength from either AP is about -64 dBm at Rx/Tx rate of 104 Mbps/130 Mbps. Equal and good
