Will the Switch X support MC-LAG or stacking support allowing LACP bonding across multiple switches?

Sorry just read the 7th July. Can't wait. Is the pre sale US only or would you send to the UK

These units have CE/FCC/IC/RCM certifications. (So, if your country accepts it, or accepts personal imports, we should be able to ship)

As of pre-sale, it will be divided into two parts (both at the same price)

    1. Early Access (Switch): This product variation is very limited and available only in the USA. (If you are outside of the USA, you will not be able to see it) These units will likely ship within days. (Final hardware and beta software)

    2. Pre-sale (Switch): This is the pre-sale unit, where you buy at a discount (pay full up front) and we likely ship them in September / October. (same hardware and production software)

@Firewalla: so is the early access will go at a higher price than pre sale? If so, by how much?

Also will there be the quantity limits on early and pre? If yes, what are they?

Lastly, do you have plans to release a unit with higher port count, such as 16 or 24?

    Thanks.

    Same price, see my post

"As of pre-sale, it will be divided into two parts (both at the same price)"

We want to release something first, no time think about higher port count units

@Firewalla--wow, sorry I don't know how I missed that.  Will there be quantity limits for the pre or early sales, if yes, what will they be? I recall reading some "maybes" but don't recall seeing a firm decision.  Thanks.

We may separate the early access and pre-order buckets for the sale. The early access side will have a limit of 1 unit per kind of switch. And the pre-order one has no limit. The number of pre-sale units will be limited ( a lot more than early access) due to parts limitations.

Early access delivery is within few days. (we fly them over from Taiwan ...) And pre-sale is September / early October.

Very much looking forward to this! If I can add one ask I haven't seen mentioned on the software end, it would be attention to push notifications. I have a cable puller at home, and this is an area where I've had trouble customizing alarms. Notifications would help me at least as much as ACL's and port protections.

    @firewalla
Thanks for your quick response. As it has the CE mark the UK customs will accept it.

Just to clarify, I can get the Pre-Sale one but not the early access as the variations are slightly different?

No update on 2.5G switch will have ears or not. The 10G unit will have them included in the box

What does the red text for the SwitchX of "* Rackmount kit included" need an asterisk for?

No particular meaning, just to emphasize 10g unit is rack mountable. (we are getting many emails on it, so assuming it is a important thing)

If you are replacing an existing managed switch with a firewalla x or se switch will you be allowed to configure se or x switch before adding se or x and removing your existing one from your network? How would that look?

Lestrod Gould it should be really simple to configure the switches, network configurations like VLAN should be automatic; If you really want to pre-configure it, you can just connect the unit to your existing network and configure it without real devices connecting to it.

What does VLAN configuration is automatic means?
I have vlans configured on my existing managed core switch assigned to access and trunk ports. These would have to be pre-configured or else how would firewalla switch know which access ports to assign to which vlan.

    1. VLAN configuration can be pushed down from the firewalla to your firewalla switch

    2. You will need to configure access ports, since it is not part of the original configuration

Since switches are layer 2, you can just attach the firewalla switch and then configure the access ports according to your own rule before making the final configuration.

Will firewalla provide documentation on how to fully integrate firewalla switches into an brownfield network.

Lestrod Gould good question; how big is the brownfield?

In general, if your network just work with VLAN's, it should be pretty easy to swap. The only issue will come up once the network starts to mix switches from firewalla; when this happens, VqLAN will become a problem; meaning if you have firewalla -> another switch, "another switch" traffic can't be fully managed and if "another switch" has too many devices running on it, the ACL entries on the firewalla switch may run out. (tracking, blocking ...)

Others users probable have a larger network than me but I will be looking to purchase 1x and 2se switches to replace my 3 cisco switches. Setup will be x as core switch with 2se up-linked to the core. I am looking to have minimum to no downtime as much as possible during swapping out existing switches with firewalla switches.

I have swapped my old ubiquiti switches with X and SE, the down time is pretty much moving wires around. Layer 2 is a lot simpler to move around.

Do you have physical dimensions for the switches? I want the SE but just want to make sure I can fit it into my Legrand wall enclosure.

I'm assuming the back side will just have a typical barrel jack that needs a couple inches of clearance? How big is the power brick?
