    I also got my Gold Pro a few days ago. Again, seamless migration and the fan hardly comes on. I'm amazed how quickly I can pull up flows. I have up voted the ability to see the CPU and memory usage in the about section, especially the current temperature to get alerted if there is an issue with the fan.

    You shouldn't worry about the temperature part; we integrated a small chip that monitors that stuff for you.

    Any complaints about the packaging?

    The packaging was nice, the firewall was protected quite well.

    I also appreciate that most of it appears recyclable.

    Like the post below, I had to tear off the getting started card, and damaged the stickers on the back.

    @firewalla
    Packaging was OK. But I think you missed a trick. Unlike your SE and your Plus models, your getting started card was stuck on to the packaging, rather than just in the box. This made it harder to get into the unit and I actually had to rip open the cover, which I hated as it meant I couldn't reuse it. I like to keep packaging for a while just in case I have to send it back or I sell it on, not that I will with this. This is a forever device 👍

    Hope that makes sense. I think what I'm trying to say, is for sure put the device in a sleeve, but make the sleeve easy to remove without having to destroy it. Also just have the getting started cart lose or stuck on with a single bit of tape. We like using less plastic tape. 😂

    @mikehuxley, the reason for that is mainly to detect tampering during shipment.

    My only packaging complaint is that I didn’t realize there were stickers in the little plastic envelope gluing the wrapper shut. They got a bit mangled in my eagerness to unwrap the thing.

    How can I turn off SSH Console? There is this OpenSSH flaw discovered on Linux under name CVE-2024-6387. Can someone explain if this affects Firewalla?

    SSH should default off on the WAN side, and turn off LAN, settings->advancted->configurations->ssh;

    Regarding this CVE, we have been looking at it; at the moment, it will take a lot of effort to exploit a 64bit system (I think all the latest firewalla/s are) Since this is so new, we (and the security community) is still looking. So far, splunk can explain it better https://www.splunk.com/en_us/blog/security/cve-2024-6387-regresshion-vulnerability.html

    Firewalla also has ssh attack alarms, which will likely be very helpful here.

    @Chirstopher, wow, I'm glad the box survived; if you can, send help@firewalla.com an email with the picture of the "rough" part, our product team is looking and see if we need to do better protecting the unit from shipping damages

    Our team will likely double box this unit, instead of using a bubble wrap

    My FWGP arrived today delivered USPS. Removed plastic shipping wrapper, one corner slightly rounded, but box looked good. Carefully cut the brown sealing tape to preserve box for potential future needs. Well packed internally. Removed the FWGP and carefully cut the side tape seal and used scissors to slip under edges of center tamper seal in order to preserve the internal plastic bag. Everything looks good. One of the die cut decals was missing off of the informational business card, not a result of shipping. The flame made it 😊. Plan to transition this weekend from my FWG. Added the opening as saw another post who had issues preserving his box. Curious if different packing routines are being used globally. I would assume all boxes would be in early identical in design. Shipping was very fast from CA to rural PA. Nice job overall.

    Is there any temperature monitoring and a operation temperature range?
    Would be good to build that in the app and device.

    The device is running quite warm and I can feel warm air coming out on the right side of the unit.

    The unit itself is good ventilated with holes on the left and right side.
    I added a fan on the left side to blow air through the unit. I would be more at ease if I had temp monitoring.

    Thoughts? My setup is small and the unit is actually in my console where airflow is somewhat restricted.
    I added fans to help with that airflow.

    No need to worry about temperature. The fan is controlled by a special asic, it will take care of the heat. You don't need extra fan either, the fan inside can spin very fast if needed.

    Been testing a bit, here is how lightly loaded the FWGP is while speed testing at line rate, definitely has CPU to spare.
