I just bought two Acher BE900 routers from the Amazon USA for about 1500+ euros. I think I will be ready for testing a Firewall using either light cable or RJ45. My cables are mainly CAT 7. Any advice every n connecting and setting up my stufy and family room network in the routers and apps?

You will have to configure both those TPLink routers into access point mode only, as you dont want more than 1 router, and the Gold Pro is that router. Then since the Gold Pro only has two 10gb ports and you probably need one of those as your WAN interface to the internet, you will want to buy a 10gb switch to connect the Gold pro to, and then both "Access Points" to that switch. TPLink also sells one, the TL-SX105, that is a 5 port unmanaged switch that could be used for this.

You mean that it is better CHAIN them like this: 1) 10G in FireWalla Gold Pro 10G out to 10G in to Archer BE900 (in the same room spreading WiFi) 10G out to another room 10G in the 2nd Archer BE900 spreading WiFi. Right?

Dayum. That is a whole lot of PCBs stacked there. If those are beta units that is a heck of a lot, and if that's the case how frickin many of these final units did you sell?!?? 😲

There appear to be roughly 240 PCBs stacked just in part of the image we can see.

PCBs usually are built first due to their long lead time. So these are for beta + production. (And yes, it is also true, the Gold Pro is fairly popular)

The main hold-up for beta units is the metal case; manual labor is costly in Taiwan, so ... we have to juggle things to make enough beta units. But, we are getting there.

The amount of engineering to optimize this little thing is amazing. Someone told me, they are aiming for close line rate PPPoE ... in the beta image

Out of curiosity, are there things we can do to reduce the heat of the new Gold 10Gbps and existing Golds by applying different Thermal Paste or swapping to a different SSD or anything else per this reddit discussion?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/comments/1de1klp/tips_on_avoiding_overheating/

It will be important to me for the Gold Pro to use the fan as little as possible due to the dirty environment I have in my garage network equipment area as I wish to avoid drawing in dirt. Hopefully it will be easy to do annual cleaning maintenance inside the Gold 10Gbps too.

Perhaps this has already been answered, but is there Positive, Neutral or Negative pressure in the Gold Pro?  Hopefully Positive.

As far as I know, our products don't have an overheating issue. We do spend a significant amount of money to ensure this does not happen, and if you have issues, please contact our support. Our suppliers have extensive experience building devices for data centers; they are not the typical PC vendors. (hence there is a premium $)

As of the Gold Pro, the fan is not required to spin all the time. I am sitting next to one now.

    Update

    • 50% chance we will start building the beta units this week. We are still waiting for one of the minor parts to be delivered.
    • Targeting beta unit sent out first week of July.
    • We should be able to cover 25% of the beta requests, and we are shooting to cover 50% (maybe in two phases)

    @Firewalla Great!
My chained WiFi 7 routers Archer BE900 with 16 streams and 2x10G + 4x2.5G (+USB etc) will be ready for your Gold Pro beta.
I am planning to use it mainly as a VPN Client (Pro speed 500-600Mbit/s).
I may need to buy more CAT 7 cables for direct RJ45 Iinks.
Firewalla Gold Pro -> Archer BE900 -> Archer BE900 in another room.

    Update

We are very close to beta. We are likely to divide the beta shipments into two waves. They are likely just one week apart. If you are selected, you will be getting an email from fire@firewalla.com or help@firewalla.com, please make sure you white list these email addresses.

We are targeting shipping in the first week of July. And if the factory people work weekends, we can ship next week. (We are still waiting for the factory to confirm the final assembly schedule) And there is still one part missing that's coming today ...

Very close, but small things tidy up before sending out the invitation email :)

What is the selection criteria for the beta? I signed up again after pre-ordering the gold pro, and would love to get the chance to beta test this unit like I did for the gold plus.

Firewalla Gold Pro Early Access Update

We will be dividing the early access shipment into two different waves. (The selection process is weighted random; for example, if you ordered earlier, you are likely to be on the list, and a few other criteria) And we are doing our best to get as many units as possible.

    1. We have already sent out an invite to Wave 1. This batch may ship as soon as the week of June 24th.

    2. The Wave 2 invite will likely happen next week, and shipping will occur during the first week of July, and may spill into the second week.

If you received the invite, please read it carefully, including checking your address, and also make sure you download/sign up for the beta app.

Once the first wave is received, we will adjust the price of the Gold Pro a bit.

We can't wait to see this baby run ...

    @Firewalla,
I had the impression that I’ll be selected since I have a symmetrical high speed package over PPPoe.
Hence, you’ve mentioned that you’d make sure that I’ll be on the list.
Either way, we really appreciate the effort on your behalf to make the unit available to all.
    Regards!

Just remember guys, being a beta tester doesn't just mean you get the product early. You also might have bugs, your internet might decide to stop working randomly, features might suddenly break, the unit could fail on you. It is testing for a reason.

    Update

    1. We will be sending out wave 2 early access invites today.
    2. Very likely, we will have a wave 3 coming after wave 2

The early access units uses manual CNC cases, and getting them done is much slower than we anticipated.
