MSP release 2.4.0 is now available to all MSP users.
Thanks to your feedback, we're prioritizing providing more affordable MSP options to make MSP as accessible as possible. As part of this, we're updating the pricing and features included in each plan.
The updates are available on firewalla.net/plans.
-
We're lowering the monthly price of the Professional plan from $9.99 to $3.99 and the yearly price from $95 to $39. This also means we're offering just one free seat as part of the Professional plan instead of 3.
- For the existing professional plan users, the subscription (both the price and the trial period) will remain as is. If you're interested in the new Professional plan rates, email help@firewalla.com, and we'll help you switch to the newer plan.
- The Business plan now includes High Availability, meaning that Firewalla runs a backup server to maintain the availability of your service and data.
New Features
1. Cheaper MSP with Seat Types
In this release, we're adding three different Seat Types based on the amount/duration of flows stored. Learn more about seat types and how seats are billed in our article on Managing Seats.
- No Flows seats ($1 monthly; $10 annually) are the most minimal option and don't include access to any flows or flow-related alarms. If you're just using MSP for rules management and don't need detailed information, No Flows seats are the best option.
- 30-Day Flows seats ($3.99 monthly; $39 annually) include access to the last 30 days of flows and all alarm types.
- 180-Day Flows seats ($29.99 monthly; $299 annually) are only available to Business Plan users and include access to the last 180 days of flows and all alarm types.
Seats can be managed on your MSP Settings page. For MSP owners, click Manage Seats to add or remove seats. During your trial period, you can add seats for free.
On the Inventory page, you can easily check what seat type each Firewalla box is in. When adding boxes to your account, you can assign what seat types to use.
To change the seat type of a box, go to the Box Settings page and click Change Seat Type.
2. Box Update Management
With this release, you can choose when your boxes get updated by setting a maintenance window for each of them, ensuring updates only happen at safe hours for your home and business.
- Professional plan users can specify any hour during the day for their maintenance window.
- Business plan users can specify any hour and day of the week for their maintenance window.
To check for updates, set your maintenance window, or see what version your box is running, navigate to your box's settings page by clicking on its name from the Inventory page. Scroll down to the Box Update section. If there's an update available, you'll see an Update Now button.
Click on Maintenance Window to modify your maintenance window.
Additionally, you can now see and change each box's individual timezone. On your box's detail page, scroll to the Basic section and click Time Zone.
3. Early Access Program
Our Early Access Program lets you try the newest, most cutting-edge features in MSP – even before Beta users. You can now join the Early Access Program from the MSP Settings page. Scroll down to the MSP Update section and click the Release dropdown to choose between:
- Early Access – access the earliest versions of new features coming to MSP.
- Beta – try out new MSP features before they're officially released.
- Production – the most stable version of MSP with the best reliability and performance.
Your MSP instance will upgrade or downgrade automatically if you switch to the release with a different version. Please allow 1-2 minutes after switching your MSP version to complete the process.
Enhancements & Bug Fixes
- Able to view flows from a report: Just like Alarm Reports, you can click the View Flows button on an aggregated flows table to drill down and see the timeline of the flows you are interested in.
- Supported search and batch delete function on the Report list page.
- Fixed the issue where the rule hit count may not be displayed correctly.
- Fixed the issue where the dashboard wouldn't appear if all boxes were deleted.
- Fixed some display issues.
Known Issues
- [Firefox only] When updating MSP to a new version, the web page may not auto refresh when update completes. Workaround is manual refresh the web page after updating.

The cheaper Pro plan is great news for home users like me, thanks!
BTW: Did the Rules Api make it into 2.4.0 as well?
Update: Unfortunately no rules api yet in 2.4.0 beta.
I second that question! Fingers crossed!
"The Business plan now includes High Availability"
Great. What does that mean?
