Firewalla MSP is a great way to manage all your Firewalla boxes in one place, but adding lots of boxes can get expensive quickly. We offer different seat types to help you control costs.
What is a seat? Who can buy seats?
Seats are how you can manage boxes to your Inventory in MSP – each box added to your MSP instance requires a seat. For example, if you have 5 seats, you can manage up to 5 boxes, and seats can be empty if you are planning for the future.
Each MSP Plan comes with 1 free seat:
- Free Plan comes with one seat with 24 hours of Flows storage.
- Professional Plan comes with one 30-Day Flows seat.
- Business Plan comes with one 180-Day Flows seat.
Professional and Business Plan users are eligible to purchase additional seats, while Free Plan users are limited to just one seat.

What are the different seat types?
We offer three different types of seats:
- No Flows seats are the most minimal option and don't include access to any flows or flow-related alarms*. Boxes in No Flows seats cannot be used in Reports.
- 30-Day Flows seats include access to the last 30 days of flows and all alarm types.
- 180-Day Flows seats are only available to Business Plan users and include access to the last 180 days of flows and all alarm types. Additionally, 180-Day Flows seats have storage redundancy for data backup.

How do I add or remove seats?
To change what kinds of seats you have:
- Hover over your username in the top right corner and click MSP Settings.
- Under the Payment & Plan -> Seats section, click Manage Seats.
- Click the plus "+" or minus "-" icon under the total seats column to add or remove seats, then click Next.
- Review the changes to your plan and confirm by clicking Update Subscription.
Depending on your changes, a prorated charge or refund will be issued to your payment method for the days remaining until your next billing cycle. Charges can take up to 48 hours to process, and refunds can take up to 5-10 business days to appear on your statement.
We may combine multiple charges or refunds together if you update your subscription multiple times in a short period.
How do I change what kind of seat my box is using?
To change your box's seat type:
- Go to its Box Settings by clicking the box in your Inventory.
- Find the Seat Type line in the Advanced section.
- Click Change Seat Type.
- In the dialog, select what seat type you want to change to (the number of seats you have available will be displayed next to each seat type) and click Change.
Note that if there is not enough seats available, you'll be given the option to update your subscription to add that seat type.
How does billing work?
Seats are billed either monthly or yearly, depending on how your overall MSP subscription is billed. The cost of seats will be added to the subscription cost of your plan. Two things happen when you purchase a seat:
- You'll get an up-front charge for access to the seats until your next billing cycle.
- The cost of the seat will be added to your monthly or yearly subscription cost.
Similarly, when you remove a seat:
- You'll get an up-front refund for the days remaining in your billing cycle.
- The cost of the seat will be subtracted from your monthly or yearly subscription cost.
Note that refunds can take up to 5-10 business days to process.
For example, let's say you have a monthly MSP subscription and your next billing cycle is on May 1st:
- If you add a seat on April 15th, you'll get a prorated charge for that seat for the 15 days before the next billing cycle.
- If you remove a seat on April 15th, you'll be issued a prorated refund for that seat for the 15 days remaining in your billing cycle.
Note that if you update your subscription multiple times in a short period, we may combine your charges and refunds together. For example, if you remove a seat for a refund of $14.99, then add a seat for an up-front charge of $1.99 a few hours later, you may only see a refund of $13 appear on your statement (instead of a $14.99 refund and a $1.99 charge).
