Firewalla MSP: Adding and Removing Boxes from your Inventory

Firewalla MSP makes it easy to manage multiple Firewalla boxes in one convenient place. Business and Professional plan users can add up to 100 boxes to their Inventory – if you need more, please email us at help@firewalla.com for discounted pricing and to arrange a dedicated server.

Each box added to your MSP instance requires a seat. For example, if you have 5 seats, you can manage up to 5 boxes. You can have empty seats if you're planning for the future.

Each MSP Plan comes with 1 free seat:

• Free Plan comes with one seat with 24 hours of Flows storage.
• Professional Plan comes with one 30-Day Flows seat.
• Business Plan comes with one 180-Day Flows seat.

Adding and Removing Seats from your MSP Inventory

Before adding a new box to your MSP Inventory, you'll need at least one free seat. Check what seats you have available by hovering over your username in the top right of the screen and clicking MSP Settings. Scroll down to the Plan & Payment section. Your seats will be listed.

To add or remove seats:

1. Click Manage Seats.
2. Click the plus "+" or minus "-" icon under the total seats column to add or remove seats, then click Next.
3. Review the changes to your plan and confirm by clicking Update Subscription.

Adding a Box to your MSP Inventory

Once you've confirmed that you have enough available seats, you can start adding more boxes to your Inventory.

1. Click on Inventory in the left navigation bar to go to your Inventory.
2. Click + Add Firewalla Box.
   
3. Choose what seat type you want to use for your new boxes, then scan the QR code using your Firewalla app (open the app, then tap on the scan icon in the top right corner of the page listing out all your Firewalla boxes).
4. On the Firewalla app, you should see a list of boxes you can add to your MSP. Select which boxes you want to add to your MSP inventory. Note that each box can only be managed by one MSP instance. Tap Share at the bottom of the screen. The sharing process may take a few minutes.
   
5. You can check if your box is managed by MSP from the app. Tap the Settings icon in the top right of your box's main page. Next to Owned by, you should see the name of your MSP instance.
   

Any Rules defined to All Boxes  are applied when a box is added to MSP. Likewise, Rules applied to a Box Group are automatically applied to boxes when you add them to a Group.

Removing a Box from your MSP Inventory

If you decide you no longer want to manage a box using MSP, there are two ways to remove it:

1. Click on Inventory in the left navigation bar. Click the checkbox next to the box(es) you want to remove, then click Remove from Inventory.
   
   
2. In the Firewalla app, go to Settings > Owned by >  Revoke Access.
   

After a box is removed from the MSP inventory it will once again be accessible via my.firewalla.com and no longer accessible via the MSP instance. This has no impact on the box per se but all data related to the box will be removed from the cloud instance. Only the last 24 hours of data about the box will remain on the box (and be accessible through my.firewalla.com). 

Any Rules defined to All Boxes or Box Groups are removed if you remove a box from MSP or from a Box Group.
