@bill, our support team replied 3 to 4 times; please check your SPAM folder or create a new ticket. We do respond to tickets pretty fast.

They need the QR code on the unit and also the support access to verify the problem.

Another Purple that has just developed the same slow upload issue.  Running the command sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off" as a workaround.  Ticket #67477.

Adding to the list with this issue using Purple in router mode.  Looking at daily network speed trends, the upload speed deteriorated over about 4 days from 560 Mbit down to 40 Mbit, 20 Mbit, and finally 0.01 Mbit.  Most times now I can't connect at all.  Removing Purple and using ISP router gets me back to 560 Mbit up/down.  Trying the "sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off" and at least for now, can get out, thought speeds at 9 Mbit down and 86 Mbit up.  Ticket #67594.

Update: Firewalla was able to remote to the box and confirm the issue.  They RMA'd the box, which I received and installed this weekend, and I'm back in business!  Firewalla customer service has been great with both non standard configuration questions and now hardware replacements.  Thank you!

Add me to the same issue, slow degradation over a few days (visible from the daily speed tests) and then 0.1mbps upload from any connected devices.

"sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off" has me getting about 80/80 up/down, but I'm normally 300/300.

    Ticket 67921.

Same issue here, 300/0.1 from any connected device. Removing the Firewalla and just using Eero as the router gets us back to 300/300.

Add me to the list - my Purple has done this twice now: throttled my upload speeds to the point where Internet is entirely borked. Connecting directly to ISP and through WiFi router (taken out of bridge mode) works fine. Currently not connected at all, so it's essentially a paperweight on my desk...

I assume people that weren't part of the early manufacturing run are getting this, and it's more or less inevitable that I get it again with my replaced Purple. Haven't heard of the issue with Purple SE though, is that right?

I'll add mine to the list with this problem. I have a 60meg DSL line with 20Meg Upload and noticed abysmally slow upload speeds. Plugged directly into my router I get the advertised speeds but on the Firerwalla it's like sub 1meg. Joining the beta program or forcing the port to 100mb didn't really seem to fix the issue for me. I'll be submitting a ticket shortly.

Same for me, after about 14 months of use, ridiculous slow upload speed.

After putting in a ticket my purple was replaced. Just received the new unit and everything is back to normal. Huge props to the Firewalla team for standing by their product. I'm glad to have it back on my network again and everything working as it should.

+1. Spent ton of time trying to diagnose the issue.

Finally end up googling and landed here.

Submitted ticket (#70787). Please help... I work remotely and it's causing so many issues.

I just started seeing exactly the same issue :( .... I was hoping it is going to be a quick fix, but seeing this thread, it feels like this is going to be a painful and long ordeal :(

Quick follow up : Firewalla customer service was very helpful. Just file a Zendesk ticket and they will help you out.

Just keeping the thread alive. I already submitted a ticket (#71702), but I appreciate how quickly this thread showed up in Google because it made feel less crazy after troubleshooting unsuccessfully. 😏

Another 'me too' post - ticket #72247 - setting port to 100mbit has got us back up and running - fortunately the internet here is only 50/20 - so this is OK as a workaround until the unit is replaced.

Looks like I have the same issue here as my fellow Purple users.  I submitted a ticket: #72499 with the same problem.  I WFH and it has killed my productivity.  I prefer not to use my ISP router as I have VLANs setup via the Purple and my Unifi setup.

    Please help!

If you can SSH into the fwp you can restrict the port speeds to 100 mbit which prevents the slow uploads. For me, this also had no impact on internet use as my connection only 50/20.

    @Paul Smedley,

yeah I saw that workaround, but I'm paying for 1Gbps speed up and down and WFH.  I need all of it for 8 hrs of MS Teams meeting... and Netflix ;)

@Aznsensation not suggesting it as a permanent solution, but for us at least,  the internet went from being completely unusable - to usable after limiting the speed  to 100mbit.

Understand @Paul Smedley.  If it persists, I will do that as a work around... I'm working with firewalla support right meow.  We're going back n forth.

I have a "me too" post also  - Support Ticket #72655. I have great download speeds, and virtually no upload speeds. I use my cellphones hotspot as a backup ISP using the Firewalla Purples integrated Wi-Fi card, and that seems to bring everything online and works very fast. The second I bring the WAN port back online the entire network stalls and the lost packet errors hit close to 90%.

What are the steps for limiting the WAN to 100mbps? it seems like several people have used this trick as a temporary workaround, and I'd like to try it temporarily.

Update on my issue. Firewalla tried to remotely debug, but decided to ask me to send it back to factory. They will send me a replacement. I wish there was a way to backup the settings but I only see migrate. I will have to setup everything from scratch.

@Aznsensation Firewalla app keeps a backup of all settings and data. I did not realize that and ended up losing it.

I experienced the same issue starting of this month. spent 4 days testing everything. So what worked for me and what did not. mentioned below

Started facing this issue and did some troubleshooting. Spoke with my ISP and everything was fine from their end.

Realized Firewalla was the problem. Opened a Zendesk support ticket and they asked for Remote Support to be turned on. Remote support realized it is not fixable so they initiated a RMA.

Did some more troubleshooting and changed my WAN port. Made my LAN a WAN and did some testing.. Voila!! Speed is back to Gbps..

everything works great except the labeled WAN port. connected my Google router to Labeled WAN port as LAN connection and speed is back to 2 Mbps upload. works well on labeled LAN port working as WAN but does not solve my problem.

So, it appears after reading all these comments, Firewalla purple has issue with faulty WAN port. It may be for the units manufactured in 2022 as this is when I bought mine.

Yet to test my replacement as I am out of town for a month and new device is not set yet.

I'm having an issue as well.  Mine appears to be capped to 20 Mbps.  I just had symmetrical fiber installed and realized that there is an issue with my Firewalla Purple.  I didn't know there was an issue before because I was capped to 20 Mbps before anyways.

And now this is happening to me. Same Firewalla Purple issue, bought sometime in April 2022 (since it has been 2+ years since, I can't find the order number anymore).

I re-flashed, and still did not work. Filed support ticket and waiting for their feedback.

Now am relying on my Asus router to protect my network - lost all safeguards - I feel so naked and vulnerable. :)
