The purple should be able to sustain gigabit for sure. Here is a quick article we wrote to debug speed issues, see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056875493-Speed-test-and-Speed-Optimization-on-Firewalla

Good collection of checks and tips in that article. Note when the MBP is connected to the Purple LAN port it's on a 3-foot CAT 6 cable so distance and cable type are good. Also, using the Purple in Router mode which is supposed to be the most performant according to the article.

I did another test including SpeetTest and interestingly SpeedTest gave me 800+Mpbs up through the Purple LAN port. This was strange because I only got that up speed with Google Internet Speed Test going direct to the FiOS ONT. With Google's test, the Purple LAN capped up speed at around ~400Mbps. So not sure how to explain the difference between the two tools. If Google had an up cap I'd expect the same speed for both FiOS ONT direct and the Purple, but I only get full speed going direct.

    Google Internet Speed Test

    MBP > FiOS ONT
    818Mbps down, 870-900Mbps up

MBP > Firewalla > FiOS ONT
844Mbps down, 290-418Mbps up (1/2 or less speed)

    SpeedTest

    MBP > FiOS ONT
    767Mbps down, 815Mbps up

MBP > Firewalla > FiOS ONT
    815Mbps down, 850Mbps up

Likely, just luck. We've seen google speed tests uses different servers that are not that optimized. If your speedtest come out good, then likely it is just the google speed test issue.

My Purple has been dropping packets like crazy for the past couple days. Different speed tests on the Firewalla and other sites show zero for upload speed. Taking the Firewalla out of the picture direct to cable modem is fine. Ran the sudo command to set eth0 to 100, and that seems to work for now. I work remotely for a children's hospital and it's really effecting work.
