I bought the firewalla but my modem isn’t compatible which modem is best recommended to be able to then switch to bridge mode?

  What modem do you have? If you are using Firewalla box as your main router, big name brand modems should be compatible. If you get a modem only device, there's no need to worry about switching it into bridge mode, because it doesn't have router function.

  tplink archer vr1800v And cannot get it to work with firewalla :(

  This modem model should support bridge mode to act as modem only. Even if it acts as router, you should still be able to setup Firewalla as a router behind it.
