    You can't put another modem between the LAN side and the provider WAN. Both of your WAN should be the same.

    sorry, my mistake. I intended to insert a modem with LTE(like Netgear LB2120 for example) functionality between my ISP and Firewalla: ISP -> LTE modem with failover functionality -> Firewalla.

    In this way, when ISP connectivity drops, LTE is activated. Or is it better to dedicate Firewalla's second wan to it? (the second failover wan when idle doesn't consume data, right?)

    You are best to use one other port on the firewalla for the secondary WAN, this way, firewalla can detect automatically and switch to backup (and restore to primary) if anything fails.
