No revision is needed for the hardware; what you get with beta is the final board. Relevant software problems, such as migrations, will be fixed (likely already) in 1.62 and 1.63.
We only had one case where USPS delivery punched a hole through the box and caused a small dent to the gold pro metal box, which we will mitigate by using a secondary box to wrap the existing one in.

I had my past experiences with unexpected duties.. At the same value (1100-1200€) you can easily build a multipurpose x86 machine, able to run opn/pfsense or Mikrotik CHR or eventually use them as VM in PVE.
Unfortunately, with no EU warehouse, also support and warranty requests would be very expensive for final customer.

@Fabio with the same software? Can you really spend your personal time to catch up with the Firewalla product? I can't!
Part of the price is the software engineers salary with expenses. I have owned a software company. I admire the Firewilla products.
but... the EU warehouse (in Rica) is a solution taken by HUDWAY Drive etc products. That idea works.

It's Christmas in July 😉
Successful transition from Firewalla Gold (bridge mode) and Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4 to Firewalla Gold Pro (router mode) in under 10 minutes!
I received my FGPro in the beginning of July but didn't have a window to disrupt the network to replace the FG unit (also an early release) until last evening. In my case, it was not a simple plug and pray swap - yes, it's pray... when are things really 100% plug and play?
Steps
1) Powered up the FGPro and used the app to begin setting it up in router mode
2) Disconnected the WAN cable (port 4) from the running FG unit and plugged it into FGPro (port 4), then allowed app to continue with FGPro setup
3) Changed the default IP address of the FGPro to 10.10.1.1
3) Disconnected patch cable to switch from FG unit and plugged it into the FGPro unit, which immediately started recognizing devices
4) Powered down and boxed the FG unit
5) Used app option to migrated settings from the FG unit (took < 2 min) - nicely done through the app w/o the need for the FG unit to be running , i.e., no need for direct unit-to-unit transfer
6) Changed IP address settings for all devices from dynamic to reserved (static)
7) Joined Box Beta program and let the FGPro unit update
8) Verified that everything on the network was operational--- Finished ---
Effortlessly done and the wife didn't even know that there was a temporary network brownout 😆

Good News:
- Shipping time for Gold Pro is likely to be in October.
- We are still in discussion to see if we can air freight some over and have pre-orders ship in September. (air freight is extremely expensive)
Bad News:
- Rack mount shipping may not be able to make the September date; October is possible.

- The rack mount "tooling design" is still being tweaked. Our vendor is more busy than usual, so we are still waiting in the queue to finalize the tooling and then wait for production. We are asking them to do their best to squeeze us between large productions.
- Once we know the production date, we will start the pre-sale of the unit

Rackmount Update
- The rackmount will be priced at $69 or $79
- For those who pre-ordered the Gold Pro units, we will send you a coupon for a good discount. (before pre-order starts, please do not ask for one now)
- Pre-orders for the ears will likely be at the end of Aug or early September. If enough people order, the final price will be $69.
- Tentative shipping date: likely October 15 to November 15.

Exciting news for pre-orders! During our recent Gold Pro production meeting, we decided to expedite shipping by airlifting units from Taiwan to the USA. We’re still finalizing the exact number of units to be shipped as we negotiate the final costs, which are quite high due to the larger size and weight of the Gold Pro.
As a result, many of you can expect to receive your units in September. If we manage to secure better pricing, it’s possible that all pre-orders will arrive in September. Once we ship all pre-orders, we will increase the final unit price.
If we do ship early, you will receive an email to confirm your address before September 1st.

Update:
- We will likely start airlifting some Pro units this week to our California warehouse, and HK, so some of you may get your tracking numbers early next week. (or after, due to Labor Day weekend)
- We will be sending out a quick reminder to everyone this week.
- The Pro Rack Mount unit is still pending production. The target shipment is in early October. The final price will be $79 each, and people who pre-ordered the Pro will get a special coupon to discount that price. (final discount amount is unknown). We will start the pre-order process middle to late September.

We are excited to announce that pre-order Gold Pro orders are expected to start shipping between September 4, 2024, and September 15, 2024. (This process may take up to one to two weeks to complete, so please be patient)
- If you need to change your address, please email the order number and correct address to help@firewalla.com, and a support ticket will be created. A representative will then update the shipping address for you. The deadline to change your address is Monday, September 2, 2024.
- If your order is shipping outside the USA, please make sure your shipping address includes a phone number. If you need to update your phone number, please email help@firewalla.com with your order number and phone number by September 2, 2024.
Otherwise, you are all set and can expect to receive an email with the shipping confirmation and tracking number when the units start shipping. Units are fulfilled and shipped based on the order date.
If you have already received an early access unit, the hardware is the same, and no further action is necessary.
