Abnormal Upload to youtube

Hi,

I use the firewalla gold and get the upload warning "Device iMac uploaded 1 MB data to www.youtube.com at about 08:22."

Maybe this is a stupid question but is it common that the iMac initiated an upload by itself (no activity from my side)?

  You shouldn't worry about this, it is likely just our algorithm trying to a smart ass ... see here for details on abnormal uploads.  And in summary, these alarms are behavioral, so they are more of looking at the events from different perspectives, then predict if things are normal or not.    In this case, the upload should be okay.

  Is it OK that there was an upload at all? I did no upload...

  It should be fine, in your case

  • The upload is to a legitimate place (youtube.com)
  • The upload size is not big

  Uploads can happen even not triggered by you.  They are done all the time by your video cameras to the cloud ... when you submit a form on a web page ...  and for certain programs/process/apps/devices to send maintenance data.
