    Do you have another Firewalla Gold around?

    Make sure thats off / unplugged from power... Then QR code will work fine.

    Am assuming here "fails to pair" means QR code didn't work...

    Are you using Galaxy Z? if you are

    ```
    There is bluetooth issue with Galaxy Z Fold 4. Can you try these solutions in https://www.getdroidtips.com/bluetooth-problem-samsung-z-fold-4-z-flip-4/
    If that still doesn't work, please follow the following step for manual setup:
    Tried all that. And again...manual is NOT WORKING. I cannot access the firewall when I am directly plugged into it. It says connection refused.
    @Byron are you having issues with installation? if you are have you looked at this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500001784162-Firewalla-Gold-Installation-Troubleshooting-Guide
    The only known problem we know of is the pairing issue with the Samsung phone from above.
    Yup.. Galaxy Fold 4 here  (that 3rd party workaround is trash. ugh).     I'll try pairing with my Galaxy Tab S8.   That appears like it might work.
    If I do that, get it installed, then try to migrate back to my phone (pair it)..  would that work?  'Or does it require bluetooth for all phases of pairing with a device, even if its a secondary device pairing?
    (answer is yes.   paired with tab s8.   initialized..   went into firewall app on that device, put it into pairing mode, then associated my phone with the QR code on the tab s8).
    All good...
    Bryon, yes. I had to do the initial pairing with my Pixel 6 Pro, then allow more pairing and paired it with my Fold that way.
    Trying to pair a Gold with a new Z Fold 4 as well. None of the workarounds have been successful. Attempting to pair using the QR on the Gold always results in:
    "Failed to pair device, please try again"
    First attempts, this error returned near immediately. After reading the linked article about the Fold problems, I toggled the bluetooth on/off while attempting to pair, and it would then take about 10 seconds to throw the error instead of immediately.
    Of course my old phone is gone, but I was able to install the app and pair my wife's tablet the regular way with the QR on the box. Attempting to pair the Fold 4 using the additional pairing QR from the tablet throws this error:
    "Invalid license, it should be in UUID format"
    I get the same error using the QR code in a web browser within 10 minutes of starting the Gold. I've tried it out of range of bluetooth, with bluetooth off, and immediately after toggling off/on. The QR on the Gold continues to throw the "failed" error, QR on the tablet or browser the "invalid" error.
    In the app, I found a troubleshooting option. The first screen shows nearby boxes and my Gold shows up on that list. Tapping it brings up the QR scanner, and it scans the QR on the Gold fine. Brings up another page with the Gold's mac address, a link to show logs, a console password change button, and a full reset button. Show logs brings up a blank page. I did not try any of the resets because I can get by with the tablet for now and don't believe it will fix anything anyway.
    So my Fold sees the Gold, but fails to pair for some reason. I also observed the bluetooth list on my phone on various attempts and "Firewalla Gold" appears on the list of available devices. Attempting to pair that way brings up a message "An app is required to pair this device." The Firewalla Gold is the only bluetooth thing I have that the Fold 4 does not work with.
    At this point I guess the answer may be buried in the logs that I can't see on my phone, or figure out how to get at from the tablet app. I'm not a network or Linux engineer so I probably wouldn't know what I was looking at if I could see it. So far I've spent 2 hours fiddling with this and have actual paying work to do, so I quitting while I'm ahead for now. The appliance is working, and I can access it with someone else's device. Not ideal, but I don't have the time to dedicate at the moment.
    Did you follow this to do additional pairing? https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004369774-Adding-a-new-phone-to-manage-an-existing-Firewalla
    There is a time duration above that will expire. You just need to scan the QR code from her device
    Yes I did attempt to pair using the QR from the app on the already paired tablet, with several attempts with bluetooth on/off, toggling off then back on, etc. All attempts with the QR on the tablet app ended with "Invalid license, it should be in UUID format." Same error when using the QR that appears on the default webpage on the box IP for 10 minutes after restarting.
    After posting I found another article suggesting resetting network connections on the phone might work. Attempts to pair afterward were the same as before, and now i have to re-pair everything else since that also blows out previously paired devices.
    I think there's two problems in play with the Fold bluetooth. The more common one is the widely reported interrupted connections, where toggling bluetooth off then back on seems to restore it, as if it goes into a sleep mode. In my case, it appears the phone sees the box, but is unable to communicate or establish a pairing upon scanning. If the "failed to pair" error pops up immediately, my guess is it's the first problem (sleep state). If it takes 10 seconds to appear, then it's the latter (fails pairing attempt or communication).
    For what it's worth, the app was updated from the Google Play store before all these attempts (1.52.86 (1288)). When I connected to the box, it shows the last update check was this morning so apparently current (1.9742 (e5ebf9a0).
    If it matters, the tablet is also a recent Samsung device, a Galaxy Tab A8.
    Also gonna add: the app on my phone that keeps failing to connect had some logs stored that I was able to get to. I have to leave the office now, but will review the export for clues later.
    Posting a follow up: I saw the email notification and updated the app to 1.53.53 (1349). I did so sitting at my desk, looking at the FW Gold and thought, why not try it again? Paired off the QR sticker on the bottom, first try.
    Not sure if the app did it, or possibly one of several Samsung updates that come in now and then. My Fold 4 is working with the FW Gold as expected now.
    I’ve tried using the sticker on the bottom, but a coworker damaged it while mounting it to the pair of screws in our wall. He kept dragging it around and ripped part of the sticker off. So, went to the 10.10.0.1 address, got a nice new QR code & it won’t work. It says that the code is invalid format.
    I then tried with other phones but same result. I tried it with iPad as well. Nothing new. So I thought maybe it is a corrupted OS on the Gold. So I downloaded & installed a fresh OS from Firewalla and the same darned results. We are locked out of the Firewalla. When I am near the device with Bluetooth on, the app sees there is a Firewalla needing setup but needs that QR code but it is invalid. I even translated the QR & did a copy & paste of the raw data of the QR & it is also invalid.
