Firewalla offers powerful yet simple-to-use features that help protect your privacy online - at home, in the office, or on the go.
- Complete VPN Solution, encrypt your personal or business traffic.
- DNS over HTTPS to prevent snooping on the sites you are visiting.

Disclaimer: Privacy Protection is a complex topic, and the ultimate solution may require many different parts to all work together. Firewalla's role in this is to protect the network by using encryption and traffic controls to hide data/content on the network which not under your control.

VPN Use Cases
Secure Access to Home Network
When you are traveling or using public Wi-Fi, you can connect to your Firewalla VPN server at home (or work) to securely access content on your home (or work) devices, as well as surf the internet just as safely and easily as if you are at home. You can rest easy that neither the Wi-Fi operator nor anyone around you can eavesdrop on any of your communications.
Remote Working / Working from Home
When working from home you often need access to servers or devices at another location. WIth Firewalla Client (at home) connected to Firewalla Server (at work) you can securely access content and applications at work just as if you are in office, under strong encryption. You don't have to install or remember to start a VPN client on your computer—it will know when you are trying to reach something at work and all non-work-related traffic can stay between you and your ISP. Appropriate privacy and protection that is contextualized.
"Teleport" your devices anywhere in the world with 3rd party VPN
If you are using third-party VPNs to shield your data from ISP / Government, and want more devices (even those who can't install VPN clients such as IoT devices) to use the same service, you should use the Firewalla VPN Client.
Connecting Multiple Networks with Site to Site VPN
If you have multiple offices or homes, you can use a Site-to-site VPN to connect the networks together over encrypted links with bi-directional access.

Protect Your Privacy with DNS over HTTPS
Traditionally DNS requests are sent in plain text between the client and the DNS server. DNS over HTTPS (DoH) sends DNS requests encrypted over HTTPS. It makes DNS exchange more secure and protects user privacy.
Firewalla's implementation can enable DoH for devices on your network segments. Once enabled, there is no additional configuration required on the client/device side.

Prevent Tracking and Block Ads
Ad Block is Firewalla’s built-in adblocker feature. It helps eliminate ads in browsers and mobile apps that track your web browsing habits. While we can’t eliminate all ads, we’re continuously improving our adblocking processes. Fireawlla's ad filtering not only gets rid of ad-clutter, but it also keeps your browsing habits from reaching any third party.
If you want to block ads more aggressively, you can turn on the adblocker Strict mode. Strict Ad Block will block more ads than the default mode, but may also trigger the ad blocker detection more often.
