There is nothing to configure on the media converter...  I just plug the fiber optic cable in and CAT 8 out on the other end...   then into the firewalla.   I know there isn't any prioirty bit to configure....   put in the VLAN 40 on it... my username@on.telus.com.   But I got no internet...  It seem the firewalla connect... but no internet...  I try VLAN 35 too....   The only thing I beleive different is in the Telus modem there a 802.1q you can enable then you can set the Prioroty Bit to 0.  But no such thing on firewalla...

Or I just don't know what I am doing.  Put the Telus modem to bridge mode and then plug the firewalla behind it works perfectly.  I just don't want that big Telus Modem on my desk!

Your converter essentially replaces the modem right? if it does, likely something inside that need to be configured, or flashed?

I’m not sure about Telus because I’m in the States and have cable, but when I had Centurylink Fiber, the username and password that we used to login to the service via a third-party modem (using PPPoE) was entirely different than what we had to use to log into their web services, email, etc. Their self-provided modem came with the PPPoE login information pre-configured. If you call, they can give you the PPPoE login information and it won’t be found anywhere in your packaging or in their internet user interface.

We also had to use a specific VLAN. According to a web search, Telus Fiber in Ontario requires VLAN 35. (That’s a VLAN on the WAN, not your LAN.)
