Circumvent Controls!
Hi
I've been using my FWG for quite some time now. I'm really pleased with the Adult Controls to prevent the kids from seeing material which isn't suitable.
I was reading an article recently about kids circumventing the controls parents put in place, and one thing is suggested was to change the DNS server on the laptop they were using.
I was pleased to see that when I tried that on a laptop here, it still prevented the device from accessing adult sites.
My question is ... "What does FWG do differently than just DNS blocking of sites? I presume it even prevents routing to known adult sites?"
I presume if I tried on a different router that was, for instance configured for OpenDNS blocking, and used a google DNS ... then I'd quickly circumvent it.
Just curious. Thanks :)
