Static IP Independent Of ISP
Is anyone using a Firewalla box with a static IP independent of their ISP with an organization like ARIN or elsewhere.
My understanding is that third party hardware is needed to do this and I was welcome your insights and feedback.

The quick answer is "no."
I'm hoping to find community members who either have their own static IP addresses with ARIN directly and hear what they've done within the Firewala system to make this work or others who are working with other third parties other than the ISP for a static IP address. -
I think you will find it difficult to not have the ISP involved. I run a colocation data center and we have agreements in place with the carriers (various ISPs, both tier 1 and 2) to setup routing (typically BGP) for clients that require their own routable IP spaces. They also charge for that service, beyond standard bandwidth rates. Without it, I can't see how they would route traffic to/from you.

First the ARIN registration to obtain address space, but that can be very hard to get. You then need an agreement with your ISP to either route the address space on your behalf *or* setup route peering (again, typically BGP), meaning you'd need a router to handle BGP. Best to contact your planned ISP and have a discussion with them on options, if available.

The hardware I've used is enterprise grade routers from Cisco and Juniper (65xx and EX/MX class), costing tens of thousands and require rather complex configurations. I'm assuming they would be way out of range for most to handle. They ran BGP for external interfacing with my ISPs and OSPF for internal routing (MAN & LAN). BGP can be rather complex to configure and get running.
