Which firewalla boxes are you running? Are you in router mode? What is the LAN/WAN DNS you are using? are you using unbound / DoH? Have ad blocker on?

When you lost view, what do you see on the screen? any error message?

If you tap on devices -> [Xfinity video box] -> turn on emergency access, see if the problems remain.

Firewalla Purple SE, Yes, router mode. Ad block is on. DNS server 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.76.76. Ubound is turned on but not applied to any devices.

The symptom is that I would lose access to all local channels on my set top boxes from Xfinity. Apparently they are using IP video for local channels. If I turn on emergency access, the problem is resolved. If I turn emergency access off, the problem may not occur for weeks. It is very intermittent, but it is resolved by turning emergency access on.

I'd check all the rules applied to their device. In your case, try turn off Adblocker on it, likely it may trigger some channels to black out. (mostly paramont ... )

Will try that, but I have my doubts. I have no blocking rules on the device at all. And the perplexing thing is that when it occurs, I can reinstate the channels by invoking emergency access. But, if I turn off emergency access, the channels will operate for weeks without a problem

When you turn off emergency access (after on), very likely DNS entries were cached and after they expire, you get the problem again.

If you want do a proper test, best flush your device's DNS before testing. (turn off and on wifi for example, on most system will clear the DNS caches)
