VPN setup problem
Hello,
I have fiber optics coming in from the street into the ISP providers modem /router (CALIX 844G-1) which has been in bridge mode for a year and I have not had any problems, I also have phone coming through the ISP router. I have the Firewalla Gold behind the ISP router and it is in "router mode".
I'm trying to set up wireguard VPNon my Iphone but it says for me to "manually port forward". I cant figure out why if the ISP router is bridged, why the Firewalla Gold will not automatically do this. When I do the "what is my IP" google search it comes back with the wireguard setup IP address. I turned wireguard off, so the only "network" that I have is "local and WAN" and then did a what is my IP search again and it comes back the same as wireguard IP.
I would love to take out the ISP router all together but Is the ISP router the problem or is it the gold router and some setting that I need to change?
My Local network has a different IP address from my WAN. WAN connection type is DHCP. Do I need to set my Local network IP to the WAN IP and change from DHCP to static?
Thanks
D

When this happens, almost 99% is related to this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055686674-How-to-see-if-you-have-a-public-IP-address-
Check if you have a public IP.

So I talked to my ISP provider. Their router is in bridge mode and does not have a static IP, if I want a static IP it would cost $10 extra a month which I'm not going to do. The technician said he can see my IVP6 address so try to connect the wiregusrd to that.
Is their a way to connect wiregurad to IVP6 or does wireguard only connect to IVP4? Should I use OpenVPN?
Thanks

ISP provider says that I do have a public IPv4 IP and it is not static. He also said because their router is in bridge mode and that he can not change port forward and can not see what of if it is forwarded.
Wireguard IP address is 209.206.91..... WAN IP address is 100.88.146...... DHCP is the connection type

Can you double check with your ISP whether you have public IP?
100.88.146.* is not a public IP, it's an internal IP only accessible within the ISP.
You don't need a *static* public IP. A dynamic public IP is good enough, but it must be a *public* IP that is accessible from outside.
