Adding in FWG to my network // few questions
Hello all,
Just received my FWG and while reading over the documentation and posts here, I have some questions about router mode / Pi-hole integration / VPN.
My setup:
Spectrum ISP w/ their Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.1 eMTA Model E31T2V1 > my Asus Rapture GT-AX11000 Wi-Fi router.
Attached to my router:
-Pi-hole DNS & DHCP server for all my devices
-Netgear GS108PE ProSAFE Gigabit Ethernet Switch 8 ports - 4 PoE (extension of ports for my wired devices)
-Synology DS920+ (plex server)
-Cisco 2811 router (work LAN)
I do plan to get a dedicated UniFi Switch/AP in a few months to replace my 11000 but until then will change it to AP mode.
Once I put the FWG inline between Spectrum modem and my AP, I believe I’ll need to configure a route in FWG pointed to Pi-hole. Currently I have a route configured on my router pointed to Pi-hole for all traffic with a whitelist on Pi-hole bypassing my work network.
Does this FWG work well with Pi-hole?
I pay for VPN service through TorGuard, and I see I can setup a dedicated VPN on the FWG. How well does this work compared to external service like Tor/Nord/Express types? I mean what benefit do I get with a VPN configured on FWG over main use of Tor service on my machines?

i'm using pi-hole and firewalla red together. Works great.
But firewalla red is just working in simple mode. Gold can do much more network base things.
I don't use firewalla's ad blocking feature, because i'm using pihole.
I don't use VPN through firewalla. Client side is installed VPN-Client on different clients (in my home) to connect to office. WireGurad VPN server is running on a small gl.inet mango router next to firewalla. Though firewalla is monitoring that device, it's still working fine.
i don't have experience in VPN on firewalla (either client or server).
