    I just received and installed a Firewalla Purple and am also having problems using Synology Quickconnect to connect to my NAS. I got the message on the NAS that it was unable to reapply port forwarding rules and to please restart UPnP/NatPmP protocol on the router.  I obviously could use help in getting it to work.

    I didn't mess with UPNP configuration as Firewalla isn't currently in the supported Firewalls list.

    Instead try the following:

    • Enable emergency access for your NAS from the Firewalla app
    • Enable Quickconnect on your NAS (it should fireup)
    • Disable emergency access from the Firewalla app

    Thanks Brian, that seems to have worked. I hope that quickconnect will keep working.

    @Brian Ward,

    if I follow your instructions, I have access to the NAS from the internet while I have the Emergency Access enabled. The moment I disable it, I lose access :(

    Any other solution, apart from leaving it Always Enabled for that device?

    I'm also interested in that. How can I enable access without emergency access?

    It would be useful to get some help from the firewalla team on this one (at least to help us understand why something isn't working)

    Did you check and make sure synology is not blocking incoming connections from the internet? one way to test this is, when you are on VPN, ping any device on the network, if they work, then likely synology is blocking connections

    I’m running Synology at two locations using Quickconnect and both locations with firewalla and no issues.
    Make sure there are no rules blocking outbound internet access for your NAS.

    I ran into this same issue. No answers anywhere. After some digging, the problem was that the Synology was using the previous Gateway IP address as Gateway and DNS Server. Change those to point to the new Firewalla Device. Also, make sure on the Synology that the DDNS is set up. In my case it had lost the quickconnect prefix. Immediately after those changes, quick connect works without having to enable port forwarding or emergency access.

    When I look at my NAS, it is using DHCP - so gateway and DNS are coming from firewalla. Also made sure the DDNS is setup properly and working (which it is)
