trying hard to get port forwarding working
I'm new to all of this but been struggling for the last 11 hours straight trying to learn on my own. Hopefully someone can tell me what i'm missing.
Fiber internet > PPPOE modem in bridge mode > Firewalla Gold in router mode. NAS connected directly to firewalla using a switch.
i'm trying to open two ports on the NAS so I can connect a portainer container to microsoft azure. I can't for the life of me get these ports open.
Currently I have gone to the NAS in firewalla > ports > TCP 80/80 on all wans.
I have tried "allow all sources" in ingress firewall.
After nothing in that area worked, i left them both on and tried rules under the NAS as well.
I've confirmed both by manually logging into the PPPOE device, and by calling my ISP nothing at that point is blocking any ports at all.
I've confirmed the firewall was turned off completely on my asus data master.
i've confirmed the docker stack is set to the right ports, and is listening.
Yet it never functions, and any online port checkers still show closed. What am I missing?

1. Make sure you have a public IP first. https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055686674-How-to-check-if-you-have-a-public-IP-address
2. Next, check if you are forwarding to the right server. (MAC address)
3. Then make sure your hypervisor (if you are using one) doesn't run its own firewall or port mapping ... (or your instances are hiding behind a NAT under the supervisor)
