AP’s needing to be on the same LAN

So we need to be able to choose which SSIDs go to which AP. I have 2 floors and I need the floors on separate SSIDs and networks with 1 AP on floor 1 and 2 on floor 2 but it doesn’t seem like I can do that yet. That’s a big need! I have devices next to an AP on one floor connecting to 2.4Ghz on another floor entirely

Correct, we want to only have one network & SSID on one floor and a second network on another floor. It’s not just for WiFi range, we have 2 different groups using one ISP and want to keep everything separated. We also found an issue where currently devices on one floor are not connecting to the best AP- they’re connecting to an AP on an entirely different floor- through the floor.

So yes we made the logical separation as you said Dan, but it’s the fact that devices are connecting to APs badly that is the issue now. So yes the “separation” is now there but not the ideal “performance”. Instead of Device A connecting to AP B in the same room at 5 GHz, it’s connecting to AP C on another floor at 2.4GHz, with dramatically lower throughput (as expected)

@Lazarus
I’m also experiencing this same situation. I have a device (Nest Hub) in the same room as one of my AP7 (5 feet away) and it’s connected to the AP7 on the other side of my house on 2.4.
Now I have a Nest cam that is about 20 feet away from this same AP7 and it’s connected on 5Ghz. Go figure.
We just have to be patient and let them hopefully sort it out :-)
