The AP's will try to adjust themselves and make sure your device is optimized is connected to the right AP. (may be a bit more complex)

Band steering is like above, a more automatic way to move devices. Some older devices may not like this behavior, so it is off.

do you band steer to 6ghz or just the 5?

If you guys ever write a KB for the (may be a bit more complex) part it'd be interesting.  Just wondering what would make me hit that button so I like understanding what its doing.  sounds like it'd do the same thing if i turned off wifi on the client and turned it back on.  Likely would neg to best AP if it roamed weird.

If you are waiting on how it works to purchase the unit, please be patient. We are trying to determine if some of the features are useful. (example, the optimization + band steering)

If people don't use them, we probably just disable it

@Firewalla I hope you all leave knobs and levers available so people who know how to use them can. I optimize the crap out of my home network and the various servers, services, and devices on it.  Do I really need to?  No.  But I'm a network geek so that's what I do.   :-)

Personally I use the Omada Wi-Fi Optimization tool to squeeze more performance out of my current AP’s. Scans and adjusts the band and power for each AP. Much easier than the manual adjustment process. I run about once a month or when my Wi-Fi speed exhibits a slower trend. I am assuming the FW optimization would be similar. I’m looking forward to this capability. I would guess many users could benefit. The power users would probably want to still squeeze a bit more performance and may not use it. Saves a lot of tinkering.

What to leave behind or what to automate depends on beta and future customer feedback. At least for now, we expose what we can and measure what's being used. Making things simple, and also "powerful"
