My HP Printer has to have WPA2 Personal. Won't connect with WPA2/WPA3 personal. I setup a separate SSID just for 2.4Ghz WPA2 Personal which fixed mine connecting. Printer is doesn't work with WPA3 for me.

True, some older devices don't like the WPA2/WPA3 transitional modes, especially older devices. I believe most consumer wifi default to wpa2 ... we may do the same

@Firewalla Thank you for creating the ticket on the connectivity issue!

For the purifiers, they worked perfectly with WPA2/WPA3 setting on the previous routers I was using - an ASUS RT-AX86U, a TP-Link BE800, and a TP-Link GE800.

To test it today based on your and @Larry's suggestions I did create a new SSID only for those purifiers using only WPA2 and 2.4ghz. They have not connected at all in the last 5 hours.

What is the brand/model of these purifiers? make sure you let the support team know. (also your 2.4ghz test).

I am also running into an issue with frequent connectivity issues on my devices (mac book pros, fire tvs, lg web os, etc).  What I have to do generally is go to the device and optimize wifi and then it starts working... generally.

@jonathan, check and make sure your devices are located near your AP's. And I do know there are some enhancements in the beta branch that may optimize device connectivity, to get on AP beta

    Tap on wifi button

    Tap on Access point

Tap on your AP (you need to change one by one)

    Tap on version

    Tap and select Beta

If you still run into issues, please open a case help@firewalla.com, we can help you look at the issue.

0.1.95.1.1.436 was the version I was on.  I am now on 0.1.95.1.3.140.  Thank you for letting me know to try that.  And thank you for the awesome product ;).

@firewalla, so far so good.  I've not been experiencing the degraded connectivity.  I would say it is a lot improved.  Is it now checking for congestion and adjusting automatically?

    @Firewalla,

It has also been working very well for over 100 devices.  Very appreciative of your help.

If i have my ap7 backhauled via the 10G eth port, can i plug like a computer into the 2.5G port? I'm wanting to only run a single cable to my office and I dont want to have to by a small 10G switch for the limited uses i'd have in there for it.

Yes, it should work. The 2.5Gbit and 10Gbit are all bridged together.

@Taran It definitely works. That is how I have the AP7 in my home office wired (well reversed from what you are doing... 2.5Gb to Switch and 10Gb from PC - because I have a MOCA network that only goes up to 2.5Gb).

I have not tested this yet but I was told yes this was possible but I would be concerned with ARP spoofing and ARP broadcast so wondering if that works well and the Zero Trust is fully enforced.  Never got an answer to this from Firewalla :(

It works for myself as well. Also have a switch behind my second AP7 connected to various devices and all are recognized. I did find my PC speed is faster if connected directly to the FWGP vs PC>AP7>SW>FWGP. My speedtest is faster again if using a home run to FWGP and having WiFi connected to a different SSID

Out of curiosity, any plans to add captive portal functionality? If it’s existing, apologies for missing it.

Sorry to repeat the question, but @firewalla, do you plan on adding a customizable captive portal functionality at some point?

I had trouble trying to get a Harmony elite remote and hub to connect, but then I only have one AP7, I'm waiting on the AP7C's to go on sale to see if it was just a signal strength issue or something else. It was connected to WPA2/3 on prior wifi. I need to find the setup for the weather station i have, since I don't remember what IP I have yo go into gor configuration. I still have a streaming DVD from GoVideo and old laptop running Windows ME, But those font understand any of the new protocols and enabling that on any new router would be a security issue. I'll need to look for an old one from Goodwill to test if it still works :)

Sorry for not following up here, but to anyone who saw my issues related to the BlueAir Classic 480i air purifiers, support was able to get them to connect properly and consistently since then.

Not sure if it was ultimately fixed by the Mixed Personal setting for WiFi security, but I'm happy for whatever magic was done!

Also @Firewalla just wanted to ask if this is expected behavior: my guest Wi-Fi has been turned off for a bit now that the ability to turn it on and off was added, but when off, is it still supposed to broadcast it's SSID?

Using a Wi-Fi analyzer app and looking at my Wi-Fi settings in Android, I still see the SSID.

@Ariel, it's not normal. The UI display will maintain the cache before the phone re-scan WiFi. Did you turn off the WiFi on your android phone? That will force the phone to redo the scan. I have created a case for you. Our engineer will work with you on this issue.
