Not helpful, but I have created multiple port forwards and all work when monitored.

Which mode are you running your Gold unit?  We have not seen issues with router mode.   If you are in simple mode, it is also possible some routers may get confused by arp spoofing.

I finally got it working by resetting the Gold, re configuring the whole network to support 'router mode' and even then it has to be running the beta to get this to work.

Even then, I had to turn on UnP before it worked completely.

I don't really see where this improves security under those conditions.

    The router is Zenwifi AX

What was your previous configuration before moving to router mode?  was Gold doing simple mode with your Zenwifi?

After changing to router mode, was your Zenwifi connected to the LAN of the Gold or it is the other way around?

The new issue, which is an old issue, which is why we stopped using it in router mode before, is that it is impossible to achieve a static IP. You reserve the IP, then randomly later Firwalla, which is the DHCP server just assigns a new ip address anyhow.

So no static ip, no port forwarding. Pulling Gold out of the network and sticking it on the shelf until this time next year. Maybe the implementation will solidify over time.

I have no time to wrestle this thing into submission at the cost of reconfiguring the network top to bottom every day.
