I am having the same issue with the Blue+.  I have a ticket open already, but I am running in simple mode with a NetGear X6 R8000.  I am seeing extended ping responses (ranging from 20ms to 200ms and I'm connected over GigE) and dropped packets (1 to 3% of all traffic).

Yeah I ordered a new modem/router, TP-Link AC1900, to see if that helps. It's a current model as opposed to the Archer A5 I'm replacing. If that doesn't resolve the issue I will return Blue.

So, when I disabled monitoring, all my problems went away, which is not 100% useful, but I am still working with support so here's hoping.

    Cheers,
    Cole.

Same problem, if device is monitored by Blue internet traffic, mainly page resolution, comes to a halt and pages time out.  If I disable monitoring within a few seconds the device runs as expected.  One monitoring is re-enabled it might run fine for a few days before pages begin timing out again.

I've not gotten anywhere with support so far.  I'm trying to get them to ship me a gold to test to see if that fixes the issue.

    Cheers,
    Cole.

Well installed an Archer A8 (TP-Link AC1900) and was hopeful the issues would be resolved, no such luck. I ran at full speed, 30meg, for about an hour then dropped to 1meg. Very disappointed , will be returning Blue and looking for a different solution.

Most of the slowdowns are related to compatibility or monitoring of certain network elements.  (For example, monitoring mesh nodes, or extenders).  The compatibility issue is related to how the router software interacts with simple mode.

    But in most cases, change to DHCP mode will solve the problem.  DHCP mode doesn't rely on arp spoofing, so it will not run into compatibility issues;

https://firewalla.com/compatibility please see this for your router and see if there is anything needs to be changed to be compatible with simple mode.

So I switched Blue to the "Experimental Simple Mode Beta" and so far it seems to be working with normal network speeds. According to router comp list the TP-Link AC1900 doesn't do DHCP mode. Will give the Experimental mode a shot for a few daze and report back.

@robert, the experimental simple mode is a few known fixes ontop of the simple mode.  It may not always work perfectly.

The AC1900, check and see if you can turn off DHCP server on it, if you can the DHCP mode is a perfect mode for you.

    Posting from https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004292514-How-does-Firewalla-Intercept-Traffic

    Which Mode To Use

We made this chart which ranks the different modes in terms of installation, compatibility, and performance.

For example, the simple mode is the most simple way to install, but its performance is ranked the least of the 3 modes.   This mode is not compatible with all routers. (https://firewalla.com/compatibility)

Router mode is compatible with pretty much anything, but it will require you to physically replace your existing router.   And it is the best performing model.  This mode is recommended for the Gold.

Note: the performance difference usually is not detectable during bandwidth tests.

Simple Mode DHCP Mode Router Mode
    Firewalla Red Yes Yes
    Firewalla Blue Yes Yes
    Firewalla Gold Yes Yes Yes

Requires wiring changes  No No Yes (replace your router)
    Simple Install (ranking) #1 #2 #3
    Compatibility (ranking) #3 #2 #1
    Performance  (ranking) #3 #2 #1

VPN Client Overlay Only Yes Yes

I've been working with support for two weeks.  I've tried every permutation, and my router supports all of the possible configurations.  At this point:

    1. Despite the blue+ MAC address showing for all of my devices, meaning it is handling the traffic, it is not blocking anything that the rules are set to block.

    2. It causes 3% packet loss for any device it is monitoring

    3. When it is monitoring a device, it takes my internet speeds from 420Mbps to 100Mbps.

In short, the blue+ has made my network unstable, slow, and it DOES NOT EVEN DO THE THING IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO.

I've spent over 2 weeks with support troubleshooting this issue, trying every permutation, and the product DOES NOT WORK.  I'm trying to get them to send me a Gold so I can see if that fixes the issues.  If it does, I'll pay the difference and return the blue+, but I'm tired of being a beta tester.
