Slow VPN

Remote access via OpenVPN on my iPhone is very very slow.  I have the Blue Firewalla and have good up/down speeds of 90/11mbs when on WiFi at home using the iPhone but when I am remote on LTE network using OpenVPN the speeds are under 0.5mbs for both up and down!  If I turn off VPN while remote on LTE network, speeds go up to 48mbs down and 10mbs up.  My mesh router has upnp enabled and FireWalls is connected directly to one of the ports on the router.  Any help would be appreciated.

  Check following

  1. If you don't, try to do a port forward on your router.  (manual port forward 1194 from router to firewalla).  This likely make things more stable.

  2. Your max throughput will likely be a bit less than 11mbs (as limited by your ISP). And since your phone is 10mbs, your upper bound is 10mbs

  3. Check your openvpn client logs (top right button if you are using the phone app) and see if there are any error messages.
