Gold/Fios Remote DVR Access Not Working
I got my Gold up and running earlier today but running into an issue I can't seem to resolve. My Gold is in Simple mode because I have my Quantum FIOS Gateway acting as the router handing out DHCP addresses for the 192.168.1.0 network. Attached to the FIOS router network are all of my cable boxes also on the 192.168.1.x network.
My Gold WAN port has an IP of 192.168.1.xxx and the default route for the Gold is the FIOS router.
The problem is from the internet, I can't get to the remote DVR or remote control capabilities of my FIOS cable boxes. The iOS app reports a timeout trying to connect to the cable boxes. If I remove the Gold box from the network, the app connects successfully. Only if the firewall is in place does the app timeout.
How could the Gold be blocking access to the resources on the 1.1 network when it's on the WAN port and the traffic doesn't even go through it to get to the cable boxes? Has anyone gotten this to work?

When the Gold is in simple mode, all traffic will magically route to it via ARP spoofing. So, if there are rules on the Gold, then it may block activities to your cable box. (such blocks may be ad blocking ... family mode ...). Make sure you check the rules and see if there anything there. This is a good article to read https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050255274-Can-t-Access-Certain-Site-Find-out-Why-and-What-to-Do
Now, how is the cable box wired, is it an ethernet interface connecting to the main FiOS gateway? and this ethernet interface gets the same 192.168.1.0 network?
Try turning on emergency access for the cable box and see if the problems go away.

The FIOS router's WAN port is wired directly into the ONT via ethernet. The Gold is wired directly from the WAN port to a port on the FIOS router. The router's internal IP is 1.x and the IP on the WAN port of the Gold is 1.y so they're on the same network.
I tried turning on Emergency Access but I still can't connect to the remote DVR or remote control service from either the internet or from a device on the same network. But by turning on emergency access I can now access the remote guide capabilities so it did make a slight difference.
Could this be a port forwarding issue that you're intercepting which emergency use doesn't exclude? I can't believe I'll be the only FIOS customer with this issue so I appreciate your help.

Port forwarding depends on the DVR or the device itself, you will have to consult the device documentation. Here is the instruction on how to do it after you find the port mapping https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500009502622-Create-Port-Forwarding-on-Gold-Purple-Series
