Gold/Fios Remote DVR Access Not Working

When the Gold is in simple mode, all traffic will magically route to it via ARP spoofing.  So, if there are rules on the Gold, then it may block activities to your cable box. (such blocks may be ad blocking ... family mode ...). Make sure you check the rules and see if there anything there.  This is a good article to read https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050255274-Can-t-Access-Certain-Site-Find-out-Why-and-What-to-Do

Now, how is the cable box wired, is it an ethernet interface connecting to the main FiOS gateway? and this ethernet interface gets the same 192.168.1.0 network?

Try turning on emergency access for the cable box and see if the problems go away.

The FIOS router's WAN port is wired directly into the ONT via ethernet.  The Gold is wired directly from the WAN port to a port on the FIOS router.  The router's internal IP is 1.x and the IP on the WAN port of the Gold is 1.y so they're on the same network.

I tried turning on Emergency Access but I still can't connect to the remote DVR or remote control service from either the internet or from a device on the same network.  But by turning on emergency access I can now access the remote guide capabilities so it did make a slight difference.

Could this be a port forwarding issue that you're intercepting which emergency use doesn't exclude?  I can't believe I'll be the only FIOS customer with this issue so I appreciate your help.

Is the DVR port forwarded via UDP or TCP?  Make sure that is correct first.   Then, when you open the port forwarding, you will need to explicitly turn "Allow on Firewall" to On.
