Detecting Virtual machines on network.

Ive been working with some VM lately testing software.  I had one Ubuntu machine on bridged mode so it picks up an IP from Firewalla as Im in DHCP mode.  Firewalla issued the IP no problem, then I was waiting for the new machine alert message so I could then use all the necessary port forwarding in Firewalla needed for the software. Unfortunately no new device was detected which is a shame.  

Obviously for the setting shared network in VM, where there is another layer of NAT going on I wasn't expecting anything, but when Firewalla issues an IP, I was expecting a new device.

Any thoughts.

  The device should be detected since it has a different MAC address and IP address from the host.  Does the new machine pull an IP address?

  Yes It receives a correct IP from Firewalla, which is my DHCP server.  You are correct it does have a different mac address as its a separate machine, the Network adaptor is called a virtio network adaptor on the virtual software I'm using.

  If this is a new mac address, it should have a new device alarm.
