RatTrap Vs Firewalla
Where RatTrap scans at the MetaData level and has honeypots spread across the internet - How does Firewalla handle this traffic and how does it keep up to date on new attack vectors. Next: will it continue to protect the network should the cloud environment go down?

We have no idea what RatTrap is doing, so we can't really comment on features there. Anything we say will likely to be biased.
For firewalls cybersecurity, take a look at https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026357333 This article does explain a bit of what Firewalla does.
If firewalla loses connection with the cloud, it should still run with existing policies. The security signature will not be downloaded to your device ... so you should not be using this device if you do not have an internet connection.

Firewalla (Red/Blue) works very similar to RATtrap, but Firewalla has a lot more added features... and those number of features keeps on growing. Plus, there are no monthly fees for using all those features (I hope Firewalla will stick to this) unlike with RATtrap, you have to pay $9/month after your first year for you to maximise what it is advertised to do. Another difference is RATtrap is more of a plug and play device, unlike with Firewalla, which is very customizable.
If you want a plug and play device with an extra cost per month to keep you protected, go with RATtrap. Otherwise, get Firewalla.
