"Time Error " with Playstation Vue on Amazon Fire TV

Good Morning,

I had to disable my firewalla monitoring yesterday because we couldn't use the "playstation vue" (live TV streaming) application from our Amazon FireTV device.

The playstation vue app was reporting some "error related to Time synchronization". note that the clock on the fireTV was correct and other apps were working properly so it seems specific to this app.

I just noticed earlier that I can disable monitoring on a per device basis so that's what I am going to try next.

  Check two things

  1. Turn off ad block ... some of these stations start to detect ad blockers ...

  2. check your rules button and see if you blocked anything that might look like an ntp server or something ...

  • I did turn off ad blocker first but that didn't do the trick.
  • I don't have any rules associated with ntp (I suspect that the "time" reference in the PSVue app is misleading). 
  • in the meantime I am just disabling monitoring for the fireTV for now as a workaround (other apps were fine, it was specific to this one only)

  The ad blocker may take a while to be fully off.  The reason is DNS caching on your client need to timeout first, that may be a while.
