That's called VPN Client, you use firewalla to encrypt and you will need a "VPN" provider to talk to.  VPN providers are outside our scope, they do cost extra. (we do not sell services)

Yea I understand that I need a VPN provider. What I am asking is can the providers details be put into Firewalla so my traffic is routed through the VPN provider via the device?

Yes, you can.  This is our VPN client feature.  You pretty much can send any device to VPN.  Given a set of conditions.  Now the VPN client feature needs a bit of bug fix, we are doing that now.  Hopefully, in 2 to 4 weeks, we have a better solution.  (Current one is a bit broken ...)   You should see commits or upgrade messages in beta first

The Red does run the VPN server. Use an OpenVPN client to connect to it.

Does firewalla have VPN Client built-in? Want all traffic in-out on the device to go through a 3rd-party VPN service. What protocols does it support? Looking to see if I can use it to replace my DD-WRT router.

Yes,  there is a VPN client. Protocol is OpenVPN.  Please see this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023379953-VPN-Client-Beta-
