2.4 and 5 ghz router

A number of routers on the market are dual band. Am I right in thinking that firewalla can't handle this and I have to deactivate one of them.
using the netgear nighthawk and so far having a nightmare with the whole thing!

  In theory, Firewalla Simple mode (spoofing) is a layer 3 (IP layer) concept.   So, it really doesn't matter if your MAC layer is wireless, ethernet, or power lines.   Firewalla should just work.

  Now, the Some (not all) Nighthawks' and a few other routers based on the Qualcomm chip, do not like being spoofed... so you get the compatibility problems.   Meaning, if you spoof wireless and wired together, it doesn't work.  But if your devices are all ethernet based, then you should be fine. 

  This is the reason, for these, we recommend using DHCP mode.   Check https://firewalla.com/compatibility for more info

  Thanks - it is the 7800 and had a lot of trouble getting it to read the DCHP after being disabled. Has taken my IT Guru 2 days to get it working with just one band. no luck with both running i am afraid.

  Do you mean even in DHCP mode, you are having problems with devices on the different wifi band?  (they are not getting an IP address?)

  Its the X4s - the one with the modem and switch in it together. I think there have been some issues with compatibility with it.

   

  (I bought it because it was meant to have good parental controls - which were rubbish and not at a device level like the firewalla.)

  @simon what are the symptoms when it is not working?  Your devices on a specific wifi channel not able to get a DHCP address?

  When i was on the phone - it just wouldnt recognise both channels simultaneously - it wouldnt connect.

  I will try and get my IT superhero onto the chat to explain what he tried - in the end we have just got the 5ghz running and am going to buy a dongle for the laptop that works of 2.4.
