VPN Problem for Double NAT
I understand if normal setup of VPN not working we need to do port forwarding on router. However, my ISP is not able to provide public IP for me and my router is getting private ip from ISP. ISP suggest me upgrade to another package with public/fix ip but very expensive and does not make sense at all. For sure, we also cannot ask ISP to setup port forwarding for us. Port forwarding setup is not possible for my case.
Actually, My handphone is able to communicate with firewalla when my handphone is on cellular network. But cannot connect to VPN service, the server is not responding even I already turn on VPN on phone and follow instruction. I am sure the firewalla VPN service is working as I do try to change openvpn configuration file ip address to private ip in local lan for testing purpose and it work well.
Question: why ios firewalla app can communicate with firewalla through double NAT but cannot communicate with VPN server inside firewalla? It means my ISP blocking port 1194? or simply because firewalla VPN server cannot work under double NAT network?
If it is only about the ISP blocking port 1194, please provide instruction for us to change VPN port to something else.
Thanks.

There is a firewalla cloud which brokers the messages, that's why you can communicate. It is like a middleman in between.
In your ISP case, the ISP will need to forward packets to Firewalla through the first level NAT. There is no other way around it. Which country are you from NG?

Thanks for your answer and I am from Malaysia.
I think firewalla can add another middleman for VPN services but the concern is high traffic rate and need additional cost to maintain it. May be can consider it for premium feature, just my 2 cents.
For this case, I will disable the VPN function and move on.

I am also in a double NAT setup and am using Taliscale for VPN into home.
