Firewalla on Fritzbox - 7490 - all internet traffic blocked

Hi,

I am installing two Firewalla on FritzBox routers

1. Firewalla on 6490 (cable fw 6.51) - Installation without issue, all works well

2. Firewalla on a 7490 (xDSL fw 6.88) - Firewalla blocks all internet traffic

Do you know from where could come the issue on the second router?

JF, it is likely the second one is not compatible with Simple mode. See if you can try DHCP mode. Most of our testing are with US routers, will try to see if I can get my hands on one of these.

I made some tests

* Reset the firewalla

* Allow UPNP traffic on the router

It works during a few minutes only. To allow internet access on the devices, I have to switch 'monitor' to off.

I will try DHCP mode... but as there is also IPTV going through the router, there are some limitations.

So you are not using the Firewalla or did you change router?

Are you having problems getting 7490 onto DHCP mode? And specifics? We do have few customers already using DHCP mode with that router.

Hello Firewalla,

I am still waiting for my blue Firewalla:-)

Preparing what to do when I receive it.

F.i. I have some devices who's IPv4 adres is fixed based on MAC adres.

Furthermore I would like to keep the same network adresses (192.168.1.xxx).

I use a firewella blue at home on my Cable connection (6490)

The 7490 was a test. Moving to DHCP mode was requiring a complete re-setup of the network. Then abandoned

The upcoming beta release should have the ability to change network IP address from 192.168.218.x and also reserve IP. We are still going through alpha test

I have buyed the red firewalla. 17.03.2019
Can I use the Firewalla ???
Is the red Firewalla now with the beta software

@deluxedadda can you reference this article https://en.avm.de/service/fritzbox/fritzbox-4040/knowledge-base/publication/show/201_Configuring-FRITZ-Box-to-always-assign-the-same-IP-address-to-a-network-device/ it does describe how to turn on DHCP, assuming off is just the opposite.

@Kamille depends on your router, if it is 7490, the production software is fixed at 192.168.218.x network. But the upcoming (and we are doing the final code reviews now ...) beta should allow you to change the network address and also fix MAC to IP mappings

Switch of IPv6 support with your FRITZ!Box. After some hours of trying i figured that this fixes all problems for me.

I tested again a Blue with a Fritz 7490 (07.19-75736 BETA) in Simple Mode. Even without IPv6, all traffic is blocked after a few minutes. Some devices work (IP TV, Echo...), some others don't (Win10 laptop, Smartphone, chromebook...)

As I have a Fritz Mesh network with multiple repeaters, DHCP mode might be impossible to setup

Anyone experienced Fritz Mesh + DHCP mode ? Tips and tricks ?

Note: as a side note, I also have a have a Fritz Cable 6591 (fw 7.12) with Mesh, no IPV6, and the Firewalla Blue Simple mode works perfectly

Update : after a few more tests, I managed to configure the Blue Firewalla on the Fritz 7490

1. I 'forced' the Simple mode installation. Multiple tries, and manual setup at the end

2. I selected 'Experimental Simple Mode' (Monitoring/Firewalla Mode)

3. Fritz repeaters not monitored

4. IPV6 active

For now, all is good. Mesh and Internet performance ok :)
